The Myling is a type of ghost in Phasmophobia. It is distinct for being talkative on the Parabolic Microphone, but very quiet when hunting. A Myling is a very vocal and active ghost. They are rumored to be quiet when hunting their prey.

These are the strengths and weaknesses as listed in the journal:

Strength:Myling is known to be quieter when hunting.

Weakness: Mylings make more frequent paranormal sounds.

Activity

The Myling produces paranormal sounds (that can only be heard through a Parabolic Microphone) more often than other ghosts.

Hunt

When hunting, a Myling's footstep and vocalization sounds will only be audible to players within 12 meters, slightly greater than the range required for electronic interference, instead of the usual 20 meters. The volume of footsteps is slightly muffled near the limit, but quickly becomes discernible as it approaches.

Strategies

Indicators

Players can hear an idle ghost's paranormal sounds (voices, growls, etc.) only through a Parabolic Microphone. Frequent paranormal sounds may indicate that the ghost is a Myling. However, as paranormal sounds are random chance, it is sometimes unreliable to identify a Myling based on paranormal sound frequency alone.

Identification

Before a hunt, drop a flashlight (or any obvious electric equipment that flickers within range) in your hiding spot. During a hunt, look out for the following:

• The ghost must be on the same floor.

• If footsteps and ghost vocalizations are audible only when your electrical equipment starts flickering, the ghost is probably a Myling.

• Note that there may be an occasional bug where the ghost temporarily does not flicker electronics on the correct floor when changing floors.

Because the acoustic threshold is slightly greater than the interference range, some audio setups (such as high volume or specific equalizer settings) may allow you to hear footsteps before electronics flicker. Otherwise, the test should be reliable in most circumstances.

It is not advisable to draw any conclusions if the ghost is on a different floor, because even though you may still be within the distance that allows you to hear footsteps, the audio will be muffled considerably. An audio setup of fair quality (and/or simply turning up the volume) may improve the accuracy of this test.
