Breaking up with Emre was probably the hardest thing you had ever done.
But how could you keep looking at the man that was capable of conspiring against his own blood brother? If Emre has done that to Can, how many secrets has he been hiding from you all this time?
Was he lying to you when he promised that he and Aylin were just a past fling? Even when you caught her sitting on his desk with his long legs in a short dress?
Even months after your break-up, Emre still tried to talk to you at work or called your phone, but you were sure that you took the right decision. After all, you and Emre came from different worlds, and not even your sister's Sanem relationship with Emre's brother made you forget your idea that rich men don't marry normal girls.
For a long time, you have been thinking about your future. You could just keep crying over Emre your all life. Probably he had someone new already, and you were still falling asleep looking at your pictures with him on your cellphone.
Your friends were right when they told you to move on.
And that advice led you to give a chance to your best friend Osman. He was in love with you since little kids, and he was a good and hardworking man that your parents like a lot. There was no doubt that Osman could be the perfect man for you to marry and have a family.
The only problem, was that Emre was always on the back of your mind.
You didn't know why you picked up his call that morning, but listening to Emre's voice again made you heart race.
"(Y/N)...", he said. "Please don't hang up."
"What do you want, Emre?", you ask, trying to sound indifferent to his call.
"Can we speak?", he says. "I mean, in person."
Long seconds passed before you answer.
"Near the river. In one hour."
"I'll be there."
And he was.
You saw him sitting on a bench long before you got near him.
There was a smile on his lips as he noticed you too.
"(Y/N)."
"Emre.", you say, sitting next to him.
"How are you?"
"I'm fine.", you say.
It was hard to be this close to him again without feeling his lips on yours. Emre seemed nervous, as he looked at the river before speaking again:
"Can told me you are getting married to Osman.", he says and then looks at you, "Is that true?"
"Yes.", you almost whisper.
You really didn't want to talk about your future husband... Not with Emre.
"(Y/N), be honest. Do you really love Osman?", he asks.
You shook slightly your head, not wanting to answer that.
"I have the right to know this.", Emre says.
Even though your eyes were filled with tears, you tried to speak without shedding a tear.
"Why do you care, Emre?", you ask. "Can't you just leave me alone?"
You could see the sadness in Emre's eyes too. He was looking as broke as you.
"Is that what you really want, (Y/N)?", he asks.
You nod.
"Please, just go, Emre...", you didn't know how long you could keep the tears from falling.
Emre stands up. His eyes are looking bright, as if he was holding the tears too.
"I love you, (Y/N). I always did.", he says. "I hope you know that."
As he leaves, without even looking back, you let the tears roll down your face. You would always love him, but now you were engaged to Osman, and it was too late to go back.
