Show On The Road
Chapter One
02
-------

"Late, again..." Rose mumbled to Mark as the group of six stumbled out the door to where they would board their plane.

The four band members and two songwriters had bonded over coffee on cold mornings, and messily scribbled words on napkins (and hands,) in the small gap between their introduction and the tour.

Everyone had been amazed at how easily Tyla and Shaz had managed to fit in with the boys, they were a surprisingly reserved group for the labels they had.

"Sorry Rose and Mark, Michael swore he was (still) too jetlagged (despite catching up on sleep for two days,) and refused to get up..." Tyla explained, eyes half closed yet words still clear and sharp; that's Tyla.

A few days ago the crew had boarded a plane from the boys Los Angeles house to Lisbon, Portugal, staying in the hotel for the day to catch up on sleep, then continuing to stay cooped up in the hotel the next day before performing that night. Because the time difference was eight hours between L.A and Lisbon, but only one from Lisbon to Spain, the group had now caught up on as much sleep as they would, and were ready to head to Spain.

To say they were excited was again, an understatement.

"Of course." Rose tutted, folding her arms and shaking her head, "Always Michael."

Rose had grown fond of all of the boys, just as Mark had for the girls, it had all sort-of, worked out.

It had been a flurry of anticipation, preparation and a lot of banter in the past few days, spending more time with the boys meant more bonding for the girls, not that they minded. Shaz decided to prepare for the tour by dying her black hair to ombré red, similar to the bands updated logo of red and black. This of course started a battle and soon Michael had his own hair dyed red, Tyla and Ashton would laugh at Shaz and Michael whenever they'd argue over who had the most realistic red, Tyla sort of already won that though, being a natural 'red head.'

Tyla and Luke had been sat together on the plane ride to Lisbon, and Calum noticed how Tyla brought out the childish side of Luke, just like him, Michael, and Ashton would, which he admired. Tyla was one to make anyone and everyone like her. Calum wondered if there was a hidden con beneath all the pros of being Tyla though.

Throughout the short few months of being in contact, the six had written/planned a few of the songs for the new album, and both of the girls, Shaz and Tyla, had taught the band a few tips so far, which was great.

A lot of the time you'd find Shaz animatedly talking to someone (and anyone) about something important or interesting, or cuddling with Ashton or Calum, to say she was upset to leave the L.A house which included her favourite cuddle spot, would be another understatement. She had gotten a lot closer to all the boys despite her anxious and antisocial outer, which Tyla was proud of. If you didn't find Shaz, you could find Tyla always nearby, checking on everything and testing anything that she could find, banging some drums or chillin with Michael or Luke in the "band room," which consisted of a room that had a few instruments and a sound board in it, whether it be in a hotel, a bus, a dressing room, wherever there was music, Tyla would be in there, and Shaz would be near. The two were glued together. No matter how close they got with the boys, nobody knew Tyla's secrets like Shaz, and nobody knew Shaz's fears and boundaries like Tyla, they fit well no matter what, and they could find eachother anywhere and anytime, which everyone found absurd and sometimes useful.

At this point it almost seemed like Tyla was the more musical and mature one, which can be true, however the boys would sometimes find Shaz hidden in their studio back at the L.A house, fondly playing some intricate song on their Gibson Les Paul's guitars, or fiddling with the bass guitars and their effects tools, she loved it, sometimes it would be a whole day, she'd strategically crawl her way into the studio in the early morning hours and stay there until night fall, the boys coming in to find her surrounded in instruments neatly placed on the floor around her, mini effects boards and everything else. It was amazing how she became so consumed in the music Luke had always thought, he felt he could relate to her most when it came to her passion for music, just like the rest of the boys in his band.

"Let's go to Spain!" Luke enthusiastically fist pumped. Groaning from the blonde haired boys shoulder, Shaz pouted and pulled his arm back down so she could lean on his shoulder again. That's what you get when you stay up too late with Calum watching horror movies she thought.

Giggling at the short girls irritation, Luke shuffled closer to Shaz for comfort and warmth. Mornings were cold.

"Let's go!" Ashton motivated, drawing out the "o," and dragging the group of six plus the two managers, further onto the tarmac and closer to the boarding stairs to the plane. He was too happy for this time in the morning Tyla had thought, but it was an exciting moment for everyone obviously.

"Fine." Michael whined, as he stood tiredly beside Calum.

"Right people, let's get this show on the road." Mark spoke, stepping into the plane.

The fans were truly lovely, but it was early in the morning and the group were partially glad they had no interruptions, their first priority was sleep.

Business class was a lot more comfortable than normal, Tyla had thought.

Shaz and Calum sat beside eachother, Tyla and Michael in front of them, Luke and Ashton to their left, and Mark and Rose to Tyla and Michael's left. The rest of the crew had already landed in Spain and were most-likely beginning to set up the stage and do the final touch ups.

"Goodbye cuddle buddy." Shaz waved at Luke, who grinned childishly and hugged Ashton instead.

Resting her head on Calum's shoulder, the tanned girl allowed her eyes fluttered shut as Calum wrapped his arms around her. "Go to sleep sweetheart," he mumbled into her hair, resting his chin in her head and positioning the two of them so they could cuddle. Secretly they loved it more than platonically, hugging Calum always felt right, Shaz thought.

The two had cuddled before but that didn't stop all eyes on them, when they closed their own, Michael and Tyla would peek back every now and then, smiling warmly at the adorable, "should-be" couple, Luke and Ashton grinning at the sight of Calum's soft side and Mark and Rose would just glance over every-so-often. Who knew two people could bring such warmth to others, as much as they did themselves.
