Halloween. The one day where kids can dress up in costumes and go beg for candy.

And yet I was born on Halloween 17 years ago. Right now, there are five days left until my 18th birthday.

Every year my Dad and I would always go trick or treating then after it got dark we'd go get ice cream. We always got the biggest ice cream cone ever and we would share it.

I'm not even sure we'll be able to do it this year because over the summer he married Lena Reynolds. In September she moved in with her twin sons, Brad and Kyle who are my age.

I never even knew my mom because she died giving birth to me. That's why my Dad devoted everything to me because I looked just like her. Even my eyes were the same. Violet with a slit of teal blue in the iris.

Its been okay living with Kyle and Brad, but they look so much alike that its hard to tell them apart. They style their reddish brown hair the same way that sticks upward and they both workout so they have very toned muscles. Even their brown eyes ares the same. They always have their friend Jake Maxwell over who I swear has a crush on me even though he is dating Courtney Valentine, the captain of the cheer squad. Jake has black hair that is down to his ears and he has toned muscles that are more toned then Brad and Kyles. His eyes are the darkest blue I have ever seen and I always blush whenever he looks at me. I never thought about liking him but he always tries to flirt with me whenever he's at my house.

"Earth to Lennox Fisher!"

My best friend Cat was snapping her fingers in front of my face and I shook my head from my thoughts.

"Sorry, I was just thinking," I said, looking straight into Cat's light blue eyes. Cat is Courtney's twin and the only way to tell them apart is that Cat puts a thick layer of eyeliner on her top eyelids that accents her eyes and wears red lipstick that kind of makes her look bold. Other then that they are identical. From their blonde hair down to their size two waistline and their heart shaped faces with rosy cheeks. I have long mud brown hair and a small round face with high cheekbones so compared to them I am a close 2nd.

"What were you thinking about?" Cat asked. She tossed her hair over one shoulder and just two tables over I see Courtney do the same thing then continue talking with Jake and Kyle. Or Brad. Geez. One of them needs to wear a name tag.

I focus my attention back to Cat and I just shrug my shoulders and give the first answer that pops into my head. "I was just thinking about what I should go as for Halloween."

Cat hmmm'd and tapped her blue manicured nails on her cheek. I shake my head and stir my fork in my salad. Cat, Courtney and I were the best of friends since 5th grade when they first moved here to Lewistown, Montana from San Diego, California. It was a big change for them, but they adjusted real fast while being friends with me. Except that's when the incident happened.

"How about you go as catwomen," Cat said, breaking me away from my thoughts. I bite my lip and I shrug my shoulders. Cat was about to say something else when Jasen Fitch drops into the seat next her. Jasen became our friend in Freshman year because he was from a different middle school.

"You guys have to take a look at this," he said, sounding a little worried. We all scooch close to get a glimpse at what was on his phone. Cat touched Jasens arm softly and I didn't think anything of it so I focused on the phone. It was a news story and the anchorman was talking about a recent escape from Hadley. The mental institution. I gulped. That's where she was taken.

"Just hours ago Jennifer Willock escaped Hadley institute and police are frantic in trying to locate her," he said. I close my eyes and scoot away to the far end of the table. Jasen closed his phone and looked at me with concern. "Are you going to be all right Lennox?" Cat said, reaching over and covered my hand with hers. I nod my head and I recall the memory of when I was hanging out with Cat and Courtney at their house in 5th grade.
