I sat across from Brad and Kyle who have piled their plates with chicken and macaroni salad. I have just salad and so far its okay because I normally made dinner for me and my dad. I always made the best vegetarian meals and he says they don't taste that bad. Jake is sitting next to me at the end of the table where my dad normally sits. He's not here because he is out on patrol with his partner Officer Valentine and wont be home til midnight. Lena is sitting at the other end and her brown hair was tied back with a blue ribbon. I never undersood that. She has a different colored ribbon to tie her hair up for each day.

As I'm eating Brad takes out his phone with his greasy fingers and starts texting.

"Kyle, put your phone away," Lena said.

Brad ugged.

"Ok thats it. I'm shaving my head. That way I'll be known as Brad," he said, setting his phone down and running a hand through his hair.

"I'm sorry Brad," Lena said, setting down her fork and folding her hands. He just sighs and pushes his plate away. He leans back in his chair with a huff and glares at Kyle.
Kyle snorts and shakes his head, but I don't think Brad liked that reaction.
Jake and I remained silent while Brad pushed his chair back and stormed up the stairs. My fork scraped against the plate trying to get a tomato and Lena spoke up.

"Lennox. Your not eating the chicken. I worked really hard."

I dropped my fork. "I'm a vegetarian. I have been since I was 10," I said, but that made Kyle and Jake stop eating and they stared at me.
Lena paled.
"Oh. I'm sorry. I didn't know," She said, rubbing the back of her neck.

"Its all right. I never let anyone know. I'm surprised no one has caught on yet," I said with a slight chuckle because its kind of been obvious that no one has seen me eat meat. Lena nodded her head and Kyle scraped his teeth on a chicken bone. I glare at him and he looks away so he can eat without the third degree.

"Well, then that should get us all to start eating healthy as well," Lena said, but Kyle groaned. I nod my head and I push my chair back.
I take my plate into the kitchen and I rinse it off in the sink. Jake comes in next and rinses his plate off. I grab myself a water from the fridge and I hop up on the counter. I'm 5'1 so when I sit on the counter my head is level with Jake's.

"So," he said, turning to face me. I take a sip of my water and I smile. He was scooting closer to me and I saw the spark in his blue eyes. He had his hand on the counter and when his fingers touched my thigh, I bit my lip. I could almost feel my entire body shaking, but I dont think Jake noticed because he moved his hand to my hip now. He leaned in so his face was just inches from mine.
Before I could say anything his lips were on mine. His hands rest on my hips and he stands in front of me. My legs are on each side of him and his hands move to my face. He immediately breaks apart from the kiss when Kyle comes into the kitchen and Brad disappears up the stairs. Kyle opens the fridge and grabs a Pepsi, not even noticing that I am sitting on the counter frozen from my kiss with Brad.

"So, you've really been a vegetarian since you were ten?" he asked which made me jump because my head was somewhere else at the moment. I clear my throat and I turn to face him.

"Yeah. It was when my dad and I were driving up to my Aunt's and we passed by this pig slaughtering farm. I was so traumatized," I said hopping down from the counter and walking around the island to the stairs. Kyle made a noise and went back into the dining room. I couldn't help but chuckle and smirk. Everyone always reacts that way when I tell them about the pig farm. Lena comes in with her plate and I head upstairs.

Except Jake was waiting for me at the top and before I could walk past he grabbed my arm. He spun me around and began kissing me again. I was caught a little off guard because my water dropped out of my hand and I wasn't standing right. My feet were crossed and Jake had me tilted at an angle. To keep myself upright I had to wrap my arms around his shoulders.

The kiss ended and he stood me up so my ankles weren't crossed anymore. I was still trying to catch my breath when he spoke. "Brad told me that you had a crush on me and I thought I'd just kiss you just to get it over with."
I kept my eyes closed because I'm sure I might faint if I look into his eyes right after that intense kiss.
He held me in his arms and looked down at me. I'm probably gonna kill Brad later, but I just cant stop thinking about Jake kissing me over and over. But then I have to break the moment by asking the most important question.
Then realization hits.
"What about Courtney?" I asked stepping out of his embrace. Jake sighed and ran a hand through his hair. I stepped back one more step and I bit my lip.

"I'm should go," I said, turning around and heading down the hall. I open my door, but Jake rests his hand on my shoulder.

"I'm going to break up with her," he said. I didn't know what to do. On the one hand I am thrilled that he picked me over Courtney but on the other hand, I probably just stole Jake away from Courtney. We may not hang out as much as we used to but she is still my best friend.

"I'll see you in the morning," I said, giving him a small smile before closing the door.

I let out a breath as the door closes and I walk over to my bed. I fall face first on the bed and let out a muffled scream.

I loved kissing Jake, but he is still with Courtney. I will not be the other woman. I just can't, even if Cat says I should since Courtney doesn't care for him that much. But even if that were true, I just don't want to be caught in her crossfire when she finds out I kissed her boyfriend.

I get up and I open the doors to my den. I walk past the couch and I go into the bathroom. I strip off my clothes and toss them in the hamper. I turn the shower on so the water gets warm then I let the water rinse my day away.

Hopefully tomorrow will a better day since its the weekend. Except Jennifer is out there and she will come after me. The water starts to get hot and I turn the knob down a bit.
That's better.

As I am washing my hair, I hear my bathroom door open. At first I thought it was Jake sneaking in, but the shower curtain doesn't get pulled back. The curtain is black so I can't see who it is that came into my bathroom, but before I could pull the curtain to look the door closes and a small shiver crawls up my spine.

I shake my head and I rinse off.
I turn off the water and I pull back the curtain.
I stare at the mirror and I scream.

Written with my red lipstick on the fogged up mirror is:

Traitors die! And your one of them! -Jennifer

I wrap my towel around myself and I walk up to the mirror. Jennifer was in my bathroom while I was taking a shower. How could I have not even noticed? The bathroom door bursts open. Its Brad and Jake. Brad was serious about shaving his head, but he only shaved the sides so he still had hair on top of his head.

They see the mirror and Brad leaves to go tell Lena while Jake hugs me. I keep my arms crossed so my towel doesn't fall and I just let the tears slide down my cheeks. I rest my head on Jakes chest and it makes me feel safe.
