Chapter 11: Taking What They Want
They're about to start running down the sidewalk when they hear the familiar sound of Cory's car approaching down the block.
"What the hell?" he says, rolling up to them. "Are you two crazy, being out here without a coat on?"
He begins taking his off to give to Kayla, since she's in nothing but a spaghetti-strap shirt.
"No, just trying to hurry to find you and Rick," She says, beginning to shake in the cold air.
"Get in the car and get warm. No way you're going there tonight. He's too upset—and get back inside, you two."
Once they get into the car, Tara tries to use the opportunity to teach Kayla a few new moves.
"We're sorry, baby. Can I get a kiss to help warm me up, please?" She bats her eyes over to him, giving Kayla the chance to see her moves in action.
"Come here then." Cory reaches over, pulling her over to him as close as possible.
She latches on to Cory, to attempt to crack through his resistance. Tara tries to push her luck when she takes possession of his arm, pulling his hand from the small of her back, resting it on her breast. Cory stops when he hears Kayla moaning a little too loud from the backseat.
"Oh, shit. I forgot she was there," he says, out of breath.
"I don't mind. I've seen you two kiss before," Kayla mentions, wanting to see how Tara can push his buttons.
"No, it isn't right to make you sit there and watch us."
Tara tries to keep going with suggestions. "Well, she can sneak back into my room, and we can go back to yours."
Cory takes control of the situation.
"No way! She's your guest, and you will not ditch her like that. Now, get back in there before we get into it."
She still tries to get her way. "But, baby, I need you. Don't you need me?"
Despite the impulse, Cory stands his ground. "You have no idea, but you got company. Goodnight, ladies. I'll see you later or at school. Don't make me regret this, Tara, please."
Not wanting to accept being turned down, Tara digs deep to manipulate his desires.
"But-but-but, Cory, I love you, and I want us to make love."
Shocked at hearing those words, Cory battles through the heat growing in his loins.
"We can't tonight, but damn it, you're good. I love you too, but not now."
Kayla even tries to push his buttons. "I can sit here and stay warm. I don't wanna come between you two."
That breaks through Cory's patience.
"I said no! Goodnight, ladies. Now get out of my damn car!" He lashes out, trying to contain his composure, not the heat of the moment.
Disappointed that he could hold out, Tara tries to hold back her quivering lips.
"Don't do that, please. I'm sorry, I am, but it's not right to make her sit in the car."
Tara uses her sweet and innocent look to get her way. "She said she didn't mind, and she doesn't have to wait in the car. She can go down to the guest bedroom." Cory signals no and backs away, leaning up against his door.
"Night."
The girls get out, and Cory makes sure they go back through the window before he pulls away.
