"10 years ago"
Screams. That's what I hear right now. Not new but worse and worse every time. The shooting star didn't grant my wish to have lovely parents again today. Guess never will. My parents also broke their promise again this year. They forgot my birthday as always. not surprising but it hurts every time. Can't i really have normal loving parents like everyone? I have to ask god. The shouting and screams won't stop until I go down. 'good morning ma and dad' I asked as behaving I heard nothing at all.
My mom is standing in the kitchen with a letter in her hand. She seems like she has seen a ghost. The weirder was when both of them got frustrated after seeing me. Although I'm small I feel something really wrong going on. "Good morning, honey" said my mom following by dad with a soft unrealistic smile.
"Go and get dressed, breakfast would be ready in 5 minute" "Okay ma " I left for my room again to getready still having questions about what was on the letter.
Even while eating both of them look too frustrated that they couldn't even eat right. The moment I was about to ask what wasgoing on my dad said " Noah hun can you come back alone today? Mom and dad have little work that we have to do" .
after hearing that i ate away my question in seconds. It was just like another day, they couldn't pick me up from school and forgot my birthday.
"Noah my baby, happy birthday we will come back as soon as we can today and celebrate together okay? Don't be sad " said my mom with dad following with a real smile in face. For a moment I saw all stars out of happiness.
"Okay!" I screamed. Im happy. A little too much. Im feeling home. After a really long time.
( At school)
My best friend Akio comes besides me wishing happy birthday and giving me gift. "Happy birthday Noah"
"Thanks Akio, also thanks for the gift"
"Want to go to arcade after school? My mom will take us.
"No not today. My mom and dad already made plans"
"Okay than no problem "
While walking down the hallway I hear a loud bang and laugh. Looks like someone is getting beat up. But I don't really wanna get involved in this bully drama .so as always gonna ignore. But my faith had different plan today. When i saw a foreign kid getting bullied. I couldn't stop myself but to help him. Even though I'm small doesn't mean I don't have sense of judgement.
"Hey stop bullying him "
"Noah why you defending him. White people always bully asians like us, they deserve it too" said my senior .
"I know but everyone is not the same you shouldn't treat hime like that " I said defending the guy i dont even know.
"Enough now noah shut up. You go to your class we will handle it" The upper class guys love me as a good secret keeper thats why maybe they were giving me chance to run away.
"No! Leave him alone, or I will tell principal all your secrets"
"No you wouldn't" that was a little satisfying seeing fear in his eyes.
"Oh yes I will"
"Huh.. okay, white ghost you got saved this time"
I really never thought that I would risk my school life for saving someone from getting bullied. Because the whole life all mom & dad taught was never getting involved in fight. But i guess i just did. Specially when its my birthday and everything was going so well. This might even cause my day to be ruined. I guess I matured too much before the age. But now the main concern is the bullied boy. I have never seen him before, maybe he is new.
"Um hey, are you okay?"
"Yes I'm okay"
"Good! Can you stand up?"
"Yes I think "
"Im noah hayashi! And you?"
"Im meen. Are you from different country also?"
"Oh no! Did you think that because of my name?"
"Um well yea..."
"Actually my grandpa named me after his dead American friend"
"Oh I see "
I never really saw any person from another country and meen is the first person that I saw. He looks very good to be a six year old. Medium length blond hair, cold hazel eyes make it more hard to belive. Maybe he and I can be good friends. Who knows he will be my best friend one day. For now I need to know his age. If he turns out to be my senior I'm done.
"By the way meen, I don't mean to be rude but how old are you?"
"I'm 8 currently, why?"
Now I'm done, I don't think he will be interested in being my friend. But it's not wrong to try right? Also he is new.
"I thought we were the same age so we could be friends, but it's okay.
"Want to be my friend then?"
"Really!! Obviously yes!"
I really can't accept this. He is wanting to be my friend on his own, he also seems like a very calm and sweet guy. Here I was thinking people from other countries will be rude. I guess I was very wrong. I guess I made a new friend on my birthday. Although I'm feeling cold look from Akio but he will get along with him soon I hope. For now I should get to know my new friend.
"Lets go to class then, friend"
"Sure, let's go"
He really smiled while talking to me.
