𐙚 chap. 8
November was quite the month. It flew past almost as fast as your first few weeks of the school year. You spent most of your after-school time on the bench beside the black lake. You'd wrap yourself in a blanket, and do your school work, or just sit there. Some days Regulus found himself beside you, some days he didn't. Little to no words were exchanged between the two of you, you just sat in compatible silence.
December was kicking your arse so far. Teachers figured they should absolutely dump work loads on you only a few weeks before Christmas break. So, most of your days consisted of waking up, going to classes, doing work, and eating. Your routine had admittedly become tiring. You didn't mind, though. The reminder of seeing your parents again over the holidays was keeping you going.
So, on the faithful morning of December fifth, you woke up extra early for the sake of finishing the transfiguration assignment that was due that day. By the time seven o'clock hit, you'd finished it, and were getting ready. You reluctantly escaped the welcoming arms of your bed to change into your robes, and do your hair. By the time you were done getting ready, breakfast was already finished in the great hall, so you grabbed a chocolate frog from your bedside table, and made your way to potions.
You walked in, and took your respective seat next to Emi and Pandora. Slughorn started writing the instructions for a potion you couldn't remember the name of for the life of you. You went over to the supply cabinet, and grabbed what you needed, bumping int Regulus on the way there. You exchanged hellos, and you wandered back to your seat.

After a sinfully long time, you three finished your potion. Slughorn came over to inspect it, and gave you each five points to Ravenclaw, making fifteen points. When you were done with the potion, you started working on your History of Magic essay that Binns had assigned yesterday. You had to scribble the names down illegibly, because you didn't remember every single witch from the Salem witch trials.
At the end of class, Slughorn told you that after Christmas break, he'd be assigning partners for a group project. You sighed internally, because knowing your luck, you wouldn't be paired with either Pandora, or Emi. You assumed it'd be a random person you'd never met previously. But it the end, you accepted your so-called fate, and left for transfiguration. You set your previously finished assignment on McGonigal's desk, and took you seat. You didn't have this class with any of your friends, so it was bound to be uneventful.

After your prolonged class of transfiguration, you made your way to advanced Defense of the Dark Arts, meaning the Marauders and their bunch were in that class. You made your way in, and slouched into your seat beside James. The professor started lecturing the class about the patronus charm. James started whispering to you that his was going to be a stag. You rolled your eyes, and continued taking notes.

Finally, it was time for lunch, and You went to sit by the girls. You tucked into your food with a sigh. You were so ready for Christmas break. You packed up your bag as you got up, and went to your common room for your free period. You flopped back onto the navy blue couch, and sighed. You pulled out your history notes, and stared at them. They were practically illegible. You rolled your eyes, and pulled out a new piece of parchment to rewrite them.
Regulus walked in then. He looked very out of place with his Slytherin tie in the blue themed common room. You looked at him, slightly astounded. "What are you doing here?" You asked tentatively.
"I came to see you, Potter." he replied almost endearingly.
"What?"
"Well, we usually sit at the bench to do our work, but there's snow covering the grounds." He tilted his head to the window.
"Oh, uhm okay?"You scooted over to the arm of the sofa, and he sat down beside you. He pulled off his own bag, and started looking for his assignment. You thought this was strange. Very strange. What was he playing at? You guys only sat together when it was a coincidence. What on Earth was he doing. You couldn't stand it anymore.
"No offense or anything, but what are you doing here." You looked over at him skeptically.
"I already told you, I'm coming to sit with you whilst we do our work." He replied simply. You looked at him in somewhat of a dumbfounded way.
"No you're not."
"What do you mean 'no I'm not'?"
"We only sit together when it's a coincidence, and even then we never talk to each other. So please, tell me what you're doing here."
"Listen, Potter, you're the only bloody person in this castle who's company doesn't make me want to tear out my hair."
"What about Barty and Evan?"
"They're probably making out, or on a break, and I don't want to be in-between that."And there it was. The start of something quite interesting to say the least. Right before Christmas Break. Well, Regulus Black was quite the interesting bloke, to be fair.
