The night was like any other. The October cold crept into the rural town with its wild breeze. It was only you, the taxi and its driver on the lone, rock made road.
You breathed in the fresh, cold air deeply with a surfacing smile while stepping out the vehicle. The townsfolk might not believe you, but you truly missed the quiet and freshness this little town handled.
"Thank you, here's what I owe you, sir." The sum of seventeen hundred yen was taken out of your little pouch and given to the man.
He gladly accepted the money for his work. You had added some extra coins to the original fee, given it was late, and the old man probably had worked the whole day without proper break.
"Have a nice night, young lady." He said, placing the money and adjusting it in its little safety box.
"You too sir, good night." You clutched on your duffle bag and closed the door shut as you farewell the driver.
"Oh! and miss," You bent to your side, looking at the driver and awaiting his words. You saw the old man's expression turn grim while he twisted his head from side to side around the vehicle and the nature around, surveying his surroundings and trying to find words it seems, "Be careful around here."
Your brows connect slightly, "A-alright, thanks."
Least to say, you were puzzled and aching to unravel more answers. But the man just nodded and left off in haste, the rumbling of the engine, and the rocky roads being disturbed fades away. It left you with that tantalizing inkling of curiosity that you were too slow to ask and satiate.
