~CATHERINE'S POV~
"You are beautiful, talented, smart and have a perfect life"
"You are beautiful, talented, smart and have a perfect life"
"You are beautiful, talented, smart and have a perfect life" I said repeatedly to my reflection starring back at me in the mirror.
See I never had this perfect body and wasn't as beautiful as I am now. I had to make sacrifices to get where I am and to look the way I do.
I turned strongly on the heel of my foot before taking a glance at the picture of my younger sister hanging from the wall. A slight pang of pain shot at my chest at the sight of her face in the image.
I gathered myself through a few deep breaths before heading downstairs to the kitchen where I found my mother dishing up breakfast for my little brother and dad.
"Morning honey, are you going to join us for breakfast today?" My mother asked with hopeful and pleading eyes.
She knew what the answer was going to be. It was always the same answer every damn day.
"No" I spat out with my voice laced with a little irritation.
"Well at least take a muffin." She pleaded.
"Mom-."
"Just do as your mother says, Cathy." Dad spoke with authority cutting me off.
I shot my gaze at the man that ruined my life and called a father. I angrily stomped towards the the kitchen counter and grabed a chocolate muffin.
He always had the last say. He had the last say with Maria...I stopped my mind from traveling back from that memory.
I stormed out of the house banging the door shut. I threw the chocolate muffin in one of my mother's flower pots before getting into our- I mean my Renault truck and drove off to school.
A group of girls squealed at the sight of my truck from a distance making their way hurriedly towards my parking space.
"Hey Cathy" they all said excitedly in sync the moment I got out.
"So what are we doing today?"
"Your hair is pretty, what did you do to it?"
"Did you see my new purse?"
They bombarded me with questions. I guess you could say I was a bit popular. These girls were more of a family to me than my actual family.
"We can do whatever you guys want." I told them with a genuine smile that was never present at home.
"Oh my word Cat, look behind you." Amanda, my bestest friend and my second sister said with disgust rolling off of her tongue.
I knew exactly who she was talking about. I turned around to face the guy I hated with all my might. Dave Andrews, the most popular guy in school and also the most two faced person on earth. I can't believe I once considered him a friend and he -
"Ladies...Cathy" he cut off my thoughts "how are you?" He swallowed hard.
He knew what was coming, but he always came back for more.
"Back off Andrews" Amanda beat me to it.
"Shut the f*ck up Amanda. I'm not talking to you." Dave responded measuring Amanda's bitterness.
I battled with whether I wanted to do this 'never ending war' or to just walk away. I wasn't in the mood to listen to his crap today. I was way too tired of telling him that no matter how convincing he looked I would never ever believe him. To think that I once considered him a friend was devastating. Guess you can never trust anyone right?
