The time passes steadily and the heat starts to diminish into a cool wind. I watch the sunset from my new room. I may not have a walk in closet, maids, a gigantic room, or a laundry chute, but I will admit that my new window view is much better than my old one. Instead of looking out into a pool and the gates that covered the mansion, I get to look out at a grassy field and watch the sun set.

"Our work here is done," I hear my dad enters the room, making me look in his direction.

"Your mom used to beat me up all the time for sneaking through that window," my dad points, lost in nostalgia. I turn back around and look across the grass fields, spotting a cow in the distance.

"Make sure you're up by nine. I have to direct my movie at two," he suddenly says coldly before closing my door.

I walk over to my bed and open up my black canopy. I close the canopy behind me and connect my MacBook to the Wi-Fi we had installed recently.

Pulling up an ASMR video on YouTube, I click on a video that had the sound of bustling streets as the audio. I feel my eyelids become heavy and I let sleep consume me.

A rooster blares loudly in the distance and I jolt up in panic. A sheet of sweat covers my body and I rub my chest only to feel wetness.

"Lilah are you up?" my mom's gentle voice echoes into the room. I open my canopy and stick out a thumbs up. Once I hear the door close I groan out in irritation.

My mom and dad drive their own car to a cafe and I drive my Jeep. I love my parents but they are the last people I want to be around right now. I meet up with them in the cafe and it is actually quite nice.

"If you want we can visit our some other places," my mom looks over at my father. My father nods as he grabs straws for us once our drinks arrive.

I sip on my iced coffee as we make our way through my mom and dad's town. There's a library, a few shops, boutiques, grocery stores, and several diners. I can't help but to admit that it's nice but it is not what I am used to.

"There's one final place I want to take Delilah before we leave. You can head back and finish packing," my mom kisses my dad goodbye. Me and my dad stare at each other before he finally waves goodbye.

I lift my sunglasses onto my forehead once we enter the shade again. My mom takes me inside a bakery and it smells amazing. There are pastries decorated inside a display box, paintings decorated across the store, and plants everywhere.

"Those are from the shop across from us. The florist shop tries to help everybody in the neighborhood," my mom comments when she notices me staring. I look across the street into the shop and notice a familiar tall figure.

After my mom gets her food we leave and head to my car. I dig into my purse, attention focused on finding my keys. My mom is too busy in nostalgia land so she does not notice when I walk astray into the street. A loud noise approaches me but I ignore it.

"Delilah watch out!" My mom screams.

I look up and see a motor bike coming towards me. I freeze, too shocked by what is happening. I feel my body being flung in the air before hitting the cemented ground in a split second. A few screams and gasps erupt from the crowd of people around us. I open my eyes that I did not even notice for a second closed. I'm met with dark brown eyes similar to my own pair and a familiar face. Our faces are way too close for comfort as her knee snuggles in between my thighs.

"Are you kidding me?" I whine, lightly tilting my head back onto the concrete.

"Are you okay," the girl I met yesterday comments. I ignore her musky wooden scent and the natural smell of flowers that I smell.

"What is you and ruining my clothes. This is Gucci," I push her slightly muscular body off of me and direct her attention on my GG Cotton Jacquard Polo dress.

"I kind of just saved your life you know," she says a bit irritably. I roll my eyes at her.

"I'm so sorry, are you guys okay?" An Asian girl runs up to us, a white girl following behind her.

"She's fine Penelope," the girl whose name I forgot replies.

"Delilah, are you okay sweetie? Do I need to take you to the hospital?" My mom says feeling me up and down for any pain. I notice as the girl that 'saved me' is pushing away the other girls away from the scene. A few standbys gather around me. I become slightly irritated and embarrassed by the attention.

"I'm fine mom," I wince out, attempting to stand up. The people around me gather and apologize before leaving.

I pick up my Gucci purse and sunglasses. My mom takes away my keys as I slightly limp to the car. After arriving at the house, my mom sets me down in my bed. She bandages up a scrape on my elbow and sits beside me.

"I have to leave soon to get ready for work. I made you a few dishes and there are plenty of groceries you can cook in the fridge. If I am not here by the time you wake up, just know that I love you. I am one call away," she kisses my forehead. After a while I fall asleep.

When I wake up the sun is still bright. I look over at my dresser and reach for my phone. The clock reads five-eighteen and I sigh in exhaustion. Getting out of bed I go into the empty hallway and walk downstairs.

"Mom!" I yell once I'm in the kitchen.

Silence.

"Mom!" I yell again, looking around the quiet space. My heartbeat starts to pick up and I feel tears pool under my eyes.

"Mom," I whisper, remembering that I am all alone.

I plop on my cream colored couch and pick up the remote off the stand in front of me. I notice a small note on the table.

"Always remember that you are an hour away from home, and thirty minutes away from your job. Enjoy your new life," I read the note in my dad's tone once I spot the signature at the bottom. I lay my head back onto the couch and stare at the ceiling.
