"Put it in already!" I groan out in annoyance.

"Can you please be patient," Ash says in a low tone.

Sweat glides down the side of my face as I slightly pant. It's extremely hot today. The suns bright rays, the humid town, and the clear blue skies are very overwhelming. Ash just had to choose the hottest day of the week to teach me how to plant a damn seed.

"Put the seed in and cover it up with dirt. Now add some water on top... and you did it!" Ash compliments me after guiding me. To start off small she's teaching me how to grow flowers in my backyard.

I practically throw my gardening gloves off as I walk over to my porch to grab some water.

"How's everything back at home?" Ash follows behind me.

"I had an interesting conversation with my sperm donor last night," I reply, causing Ash to snicker.

A few moments earlier...

I hear my phone ring next to me as I binge watch a random show on my mounted TV.

"Hello?" I answer without looking at the contact, assuming it was my mom.

"Delilah how are you?" My father's arrogant voice answers instead.

"Fine," I roll my eyes.

"It's almost family vacation time," he says after a moment of silence. He's so annoying.

"I thought I wasn't allowed back after last time," I walk around my living room and start playing with random stuff around me.

"Let's just forgive and forget. It's lonely around here kid... I miss you," he sighs.

"I'll think about it," I ignore him. We finish our awkward conversation not too long after. I plop back in my couch and allow my mind to race to last summer.

Present

"What happened last summer?" Ash asks, before taking a sip of her lemonade.

"It's a long story hone-"

A knock interrupts our conversation. I look over at Ash and she shrugs at me, not knowing the intruder either. I open the porch door and walk through the house to the front door. I smile when I open the front door and a tall figure with brown curls stands next to Kingsley.

"Delilah!" Leo squeals before collapsing into my arms.

As I take a step back because of his force I end up slipping. Leo's six foot frame comes collapsing onto my much smaller frame. Leo pulls hisself up immediately and hovers over me. I hear him apologize as I grin at our clumsiness.

"Whats going on and who's this?" I hear Ash run in. I look up at Leo straddling my lap and instantly push myself upwards. Leo gets the hint and starts helping me up.

"Leo, Ash, Ash, Leo," I point back and forth between the two as I dust off my overalls.

"My bestfriend Leo came for a surprise... visit I'm assuming? But we got too excited and we fell down," I explain while side hugging Leo.

"You have soil all over your floors. What if you slipped and hurt yourself even worse," Ash pulls me in lightly by my arm. She starts to examine my body.

"Delilah you have a girlfriend?" Leo asks in a high pitch tone.

Me and Ash turn our heads over to Leo at the same exact time. I feel heat rise to my cheeks as I release my arm from Ash's soft grasp.

"We aren't dating Leo," I reply. Leo eyes me and Ash before rolling his eyes.

"Why are you here?" Ash questions while crossing her arms.

"Because tomorrow me and Delilah are going on a trip," Leo answers in a "duh" tone.

I almost forgot again. Each year me, Leo, and my parents go on a beach trip to our beach house. It has six bedrooms, three floors, an indoor and outdoor pool, is only a one minute walk to the beach, and has many other features.

"That's why dad called me yesterday. I tuned out majority of that conversation," I mumble.

"I'm going to head out. See you later Lilah," Ash walks away.

"So, no girlfriend?" Leo quirks his eyebrow. I smile at him and jump onto him. After Leo takes in all my cute aggression we sit on the coach and catch up over a bowl of grapes.

"I totally forgot about the trip, but after last year's disaster I don't want to go to the beach," I lean my head onto my hand.

"So what do you want to do? Or go shall I say?" Leo plops a purple grape in his mouth.

"Since my parents think I can be alone, let's go on a trip alone. Let's go to the mountains, a cabin trip specifically. And I'll invite Ash and her friends," I explain.

Leo eyes me suspiciously, more so cautiously.

"Let's do it," he agrees as he leans his head on my shoulder.
