Chapter 17

"I just got home and she was on the ground! What else do you want me to say?" I almost scream out of frustration.
"Tell us exactly what happened" the police officer infront of me asked again for the third time.
"Ugh! I already told you three times!" I want to smack them straight!
"Refresh our memory"
"I think we're done here" I stand up and start walking towards the door.
"Sit back down Mrs. Hality"
"I know my rights and within those rights I can freely walk out if I do chose to, and I chose to" I walk out of the room and leave the police station.
I needed some caffeine.
I stop by a coffee shop and get two iced mocha's.
I walk out to a nearby park and immediately feel my body relax.
The sky was a beautiful shade of blue but the longer that I stared at it the more red it became.
It suddenly turned a bright red and I could see her lifeless body, her mouth twisted into a scream, for eternity.
I got up and ran.
I ran until I couldn't.
I grabed my phone and dialed the only person I could trust.

"Hello?"
"Dad I need your help, I don't know what to do, the police think I had something do do with her death and I don't know what to do!" It was Vey.
"Who's death, whats going on?"
"I saved a girl, while on patrol. I've been letting her stay at my apartment for alittle over 4 months. I went on a walk, the night you called. I came home and the door was open, i thought she must-have forgot it, she had a foggy brain sometimes" she took a shaky breath.
"Its okay,keep going"
"I wanted to teach her a lesson so I snuck in and waited for her to come out. When she didn't I went into our room and she...she was covered, soaked in her...her red blood. All the blood everywhere. I couldn't think so I ran, once I calmed down I called the police. I knew she was dead, I didn't want this"
"Where are you?" She needs all the support she can get right now.
"I'm by...I'm by the 7-11 by the Sakinu police station, please hurry" she sounded so desperate.
"I'm on my way" I rush to the car and drive out to her location.
I walk out near the 7-11 and I don't see her anywhere.
Suddenly she hangs up ad I'm left searching.
"You wouldn't of thought I wouldn't look the same, would you?" She standing infront of me, but I don't recognize her.
She has long light purple hair, and her eyes are not her dark brown anymore, they are a beautiful shade of light green. She's almost as tall as me now, but still pretty frail. She has on a black long sleeve and a baggy cream band t-shirt over.
"You, you look so..."I couldn't find words to describe her.
"Different? Yeah, kinda the point" she hesitates before she ran and gave me a big hug.
I pull her close and sobs rack my body, I bend down with hands on hef shoulders. "No matter what, I'm not loosing you again. I can't" she nods through her own tears.
"Lets go sit down" she leads me to a bench facing the park.
"How have you been?"
"Honesty? Hm not the best bit I'm going" she looks so tired and just all around drained.
"What have you been doing for two years?"
"I'm vigilante part time, otherwise I just look around for little side jobs. The police don't really like me but I give them less to do sooo" she shrugged.
"Why?"
She looked at me,puzzled "why what?"
"Why did you run away?"
"She hesitates "I-Its complicated.....I guess I was mad,frustrated, and just overwhelmed. I know its just an excuse" she looks down, refusing to look at me.
"No, your a child, one who I am to take care of, I still love you and that is all that matters okay?" She let out a shaky breath.
"Now, to why I called you, my friend Shia. She was murdered, by who, good guess. The police think I did it, I have no reason to hurt her. In all honesty the only person I knew from her was her ex, I don't know his name but I saved her from him. He was pretty close to seriously hurting her....or worse"
"Have you told the police that?"
"Yes! And they keep on asking the same question over and over!" She growled, clearly annoyed.
"Okay, how about you come back home and we talk?"
"What about Mic,Eri or Shinsho? They hate me" She immediately refused.
"They don't hate you, they miss you, especially Eri"
She thinks for awhile then agreed.

"Kaia! Dear its been so long" A familar but distant voice rang in my ears.
I spin around to see Mrs.Nejia "Omg!" I run and almost tackel her. Its been almost 3 months.
"Dear how have you been? I heard what happened" She looks ready to cry, and I have tears streaming down my face.
"Its been hard, I'm so, so,so sorry I haven't visited, its been so crazy" I don't want to let go, she was my mother for two years.
"Vey, who is this?" Dad stands beside me.
"Mrs.Nejia, this is my dad, dad this was my neighbor, she's the one who took care of me" I wipe my tears away.
"Its nice to meet the father of your wonderful daughter, looks like I was right" she winks at me.
"Yeah, It just took me awhile to realize" I smile at how she was right. "Dad is it okay if we go talk for a while?"
"Sure just be back in a hour or so" he give give me a kiss on the head and we start walking around the park.
"How are you doing with all of this?" She gestures to my arms.
"I try to stop, but I physically can't..." I have a love hate relationship with my bad habits.
We walked and talked for about an hour before I had to head home.
This is the happiest I've been in so long.
