Aftermath

A/N: This is how I imagined the house they were held captive in.

It's Kinda pretty ik but it gives someone's waiting inside to kill me vibe.

Rose's Pov:

Flashback: after she told Sofia to run

I see the little girl running with all the energy she has left and soon enough she disappears from my sight. I turn back to head inside to find a phone. I went back into the bedroom to see that the bastard has died.

Finally, after almost 10 years of captivity. I'M FREE.

Instead of trying to find the phone I turn towards the kitchen. If I call the police, they might take Sofia with them and press murder charges. Even though it is an unlikely possibility that they might not believe that it was self-defense, I don't want to risk it. I turn on the gas and find matchsticks. I wait for a few minutes and then make my way out of the house.

I watch the house burn, flames engulfing him. My blood boiling with rage as I remember what he did to Sofia a few months back. Sadly, the flames can't burn the scars we both have received from that house.

The house was completely secluded from the hustle and bustle of the city.

I was taken by this man, whose name I think was Victor, when I was 7 years old. I only remember pieces of what my life was, and I know that a piece of my memory is missing, and I know that it is really important.

I leave the place and go searching for Sofia. I go towards the tree, but I can't find her.

"Sofia...Sofia... Sofia? Where are you?" I yell. The only answer I get back is the chirping of birds.

"no no no Sofia?" She was nowhere.

(Flashback is done)

Sofia's POV:

After crying for about an hour, exhaustion hit me and the last thing I remember was crying for Rosie. Rosie always told me that master was not our family and that he took us away from them. She always said that one day or another she would make sure that I would find them.

But I don't remember anything about my family. Rosie is the only person whom I remember. She was the only person who loved me.

I look at my surroundings and realize I'm still in the hospital. I hear my stomach grumble and I try to remember when I last ate. It was about 4 days back, I think. Rosie had given me half of her portion as well.

When Rosie cooked food she used to try and sneak some things for me to eat but she always made sure I ate even though she starved.

I close my eyes but hear the door open and that feeling of doom came over me again.

I see that it is Officer Hopper and some other lady in a blue uniform. I felt relieved.

"Hey sofia! How are you feeling now? "he asks. I don't answer so he continues.

"Sweetheart, do u know your full name?" he asks.

I try to remember but I can't. "No." I say, shaking my head.

"Ok Sofia, don't worry. Dr Addison Montgomery here needs to take your blood so that we can try and find out if you have any family. Is that ok with you?"

I nod.

Dr Montgomery's Pov

I approach the girl slowly. She was really small and malnourished for her age and had bruises covering her entire body.

She also has a now healing black eye and a freshly broken rib.

"Hey Sofia! Don't worry the needle won't hurt that much but I need you to be still. Can you do that sweetheart?"

She nods saying "It's ok. I can tolerate pain."

I feel my eyebrows raising. We all assumed that she was found in that state due to an accident. But, she has a healing black eye and bruises which is strange. What she just said is also indicating that she could be a victim of abuse.

I need to ask more questions but I don't want to scare her so I ask gently, "Sofia, did anyone hurt you physically? You don't have to be scared. You're safe now and no one will hurt you."

She scrunches up her face like she is contemplating whether to say something or not.

"No." she says blankly.

I don't want to force her, so I draw some of her blood and find officer Hopper.

I tell him my suspicions about Sofia's state and that I think that she is a victim of abuse.

Officer Hopper's POV:

I register Dr Montgomery's suspicions and we set to scan her DNA to find if she has a family.

We run it on the DNA database and my mouth, as well as Dr Montgomery's mouth, drops when we see the Girl's Family's names.

"WOW!" I hear Dr Addison say.

WOW indeed.
