It was early morning when Aiden arrived. He was supposed to come at the afternoon, but wanting to surprise Cordelia, he decided to leave at midnight.

Without even removing his armor, he first entered Cordelia's room, hoping to find her asleep on her bed. But just to his surprise, the room was empty. He saw a bouquet of roses lying on the bed.

He lifted it up with a smile, "looks like there is someone else who's planning a surprise as well".

Unaware of the turmoil brewing up in his life, he happily went to his room only to find it empty. The note placed near the table caught his eye. He hesitantly picked it up, and started reading:

"Aiden, By now you must have noticed my absence. They say that the worst thing about Betrayal is that it never comes from an enemy; and I felt that today.

Before leaving the palace, I badly wanted to ask you, just once, Why did you do that? Was the love I gave you not enough? What was it that compelled you to take such a step, that compelled you to cheat?

I hope you will not hide behind the word 'mistake'. Because what you did was not a mistake. Lying or Cheating won't just happen accidently, they're intentional choices, aren't they?

I had stood by your side whenever you needed me, but today, I didn't walk away myself, your actions pushed me away, mother Evanora's bitter words pushed me away, the truth from Stetson's mouth pushed me away. I hope you'll feel free now that i've left.

never yours again,

Cordelia."

Aiden did not know how to react. He had lost all his senses. The woman whom he wanted to cherish his whole life had walked away from him thinking he had betrayed her, which he never did.

He indeed was sad, But rage was the only thing he felt. He knew his mother had done something.

Without giving it a second chance, he went to his mother, "What did you say to Cordelia?"

Evanora was even surprised to see his eyes fuming red in anger. "what are you talking about son?", she replied innocently.

"just tell me what did you do to her, or i'll forget that you're my own mother."

"Aiden, I did nothing dear, she must've run away with some other person, isn't It good?", his mother tried to console him, but failed badly in doing so.

"But I never mentioned that she ran away mother."

Evanora knew she was caught. not having the guts to say anything, she stood there speechless. Aiden remembered Cordelia mentioning Stetson's name in the letter, so he walked out of the room, and told one of the servants to bring Stetson.

Stetson was shivering in fear when he saw Aiden's red eyes, and a scared Evanora sitting silently beside him.

"welcome, Mythrendale's most trusted Steward, Mr. Stetson bruce.", Aiden said sarcastically as he entered, "time to show your loyalty?"

Stetson stood silently in front of Aiden; he could never gather the courage to speak up. He knew he was doomed, and no one could save him now.

Noticing his silence, Aiden said, "will you speak up or I will have to bring a whip?"

"No...your majesty...i will tell you everything..."

Stetson told each and every thing of Evanora's plan to Aiden. And at last, he could only shake his head in disbelief, "I can't believe you are the same mother who gave birth to me."

Saying this, Aiden walked away and decided to never enter the palace again until he finds Cordelia.
