"Phaino... How're you feeling?" My eyes are blurred from the excess tears. I feel my body burning from the fever and the vague image of my dirty blonde aunt wiping me down with a damp cloth. The cool feeling sent waves of relief to my pounding head. "How are you feeling buddy?"
"Okay..." I mustered. Aunt Amettie came to a clear view as she pressed our foreheads together.
"It's okay not to be okay Phaino... Remember that alright? If it hurts too much... you can stop fighting and take a rest but you don't give up, got it?"
I nodded. I must've because she smiles and brushes my hair. "I love you bud."
She says that a lot...
...
"I miss you Auntie Ami..."
"I'm right here. You don't have to miss me, Auntie Ami is right here."
"No you're not..."
"Phaino?"
"No you're not."

How often is it that people cry themselves to sleep and awake still puffed up in tears. Such happy memories that beats nightmares when it comes to invoking great feelings in me. How many more dreams of home am I going to suffer through before it becomes my reality?
Granny Mal is always by my side when I wake up. She never asks about what has rendered me so emotional, but with no fail, opens her arms and lets me weep to my heart's content. Even if I say nothing at all, I feel that she understands.
I sometimes imagine Granny Mal was her... Doing that gives me hope. I feel guilty doing it too often but I sense that Granny Mal knows. And she puts no fault in me.
Usual errands go by, I had enough strength to spend time alone roaming the forest with no supervision. Haku berries are my greatest companion. Small oddly shaped berries that are tangy and filling.
The snow is slowly melting, the forest is greener than ever. If their psychic ability isn't just a scam I'll be walking on blades of grass rather than enduring every frost bitten step.
I like winter. Being cold but cosy is the best part. The clothing in this town is not fit for winter. They're too scratchy and thin, not proper winter attire at all. I'm surprised none of them have died of hypothermia. But to be fair most of them are affixed to fire so I guess they can keep themselves warm.
Affinities... I don't have any. The book doesn't really say much and I've read those pages over and over. So much for versatility. How about Granny Mal? I don't think I've ever seen her use her affinity. I know she's under the healer class. Could it be water? Water is associated with healing. Maybe it is water... It's probably water.
"She's under the Poison Class!" WHO SAID THAT? A GHOST? "Healer Class and Poison Classes are very very different you know!" NO? NO??? I DON'T KNOW??? HELLO? "Poison Class is the Healer Class ruined! That's why she fell from grace. She became a Ruined being."
What?
"Mallory has the affinity of Ground. So she can make her potions!"
Granny Mal is ruined?
"She is! She issssssss!" Happy, chirpy, annoying voice. WHO THE FUCK SAID THAT?!
"ME!" OH WELL SHUT THE FUCK UP!
