Located in an alleyway in Adventure City, lied a crying cockapoo.
Skye: H-How come this happened to me?
Skye felt a drop of water hit her head. She looked up to see dark clouds looming over her.
Skye: O-Of course n-now this.
The rain began to start pouring down, drenching her already dirty clothes. All She could do was cry.
After about 20 minutes, Skye began shivering from the cold rain, feeling all her hopes flush away. Suddenly she felt the rain stop, she lifted her head to see a dark figure standing over her.Skye: AHHHHHHH, PLEASE DONT HURT ME.
Mystery voice: Whoa, calm down. I'm not gonna hurt you.
Skye opened her eyes and looked up at the man. He was a dalmatian wearing a black shirt and black pants with a red jacket. She looked more up and saw an umbrella hanging over her.
Skye: W-Who are you?
Marshall: My name is Marshall, I'm a firefighter. What's your name?
Skye: I'm Skye. What do you want?
Marshall was a little surprised by her sudden tone but smiled through.
Marshall: Well, I saw you just sitting in the rain without an umbrella, so I thought I would help. What are you doing out here anyway?
Skye: None of your business. Leave me alone.
Marshall knelt down to her level and saw the leftover tears in her eyes. He knew something was off.
Marshall: Listen, I know we just met, but you can trust me. I'm a firefighter, so you don't have to worry.
Skye felt a little bit comfortable, but she still didn't trust him.
Skye: That's nice, but still, I'm fine. I don't need any help.
Marshall could tell she was lying, so he decided to try and change the subject.
Marshall: You waiting on someone?
Skye: No.
Marshall: Do you need a phone to call someone?
Skye: No
Marshall: Do you need a ride home?
Skye: NO, I told you I'm fine. I don't need help, I'm fine on my own.
Marshall could see tears starting to form on her face. He felt bad for asking so many questions, and he thinks he knows what's wrong.
Marshall: Do you have a place to go?
Skye looked up at Marshall and broke down crying. Marshall gently reached out, but she swatted him and curled up against the wall, stuffing her face in her knees.
Marshall: Hey, it's ok. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you upset.
Skye lifted her head. Something about his voice was soothing and comforting. She took a few breaths and wiped her eyes.
Marshall: Are you homeless?
Skye nodded softly, trying to hide her face. Marshall looked up and noticed the rain had started to pour harder. He looked back at Skye.
Marshall: Do you need a place to stay?
Skye was taken aback by this question. She didn't know what to say. She didn't know whether to trust him or not.
Marshall: I know you're probably nervous, but a warm place is better than the freezing rain.
Skye began to weigh her options. A warm ace to stay sounded amazing, but she still didn't trust him.
Skye: H-How can I trust you?
Marshall smiled at her. His smile seemed nice, and it made her feel weird.
Marshall: I suppose it's hard to trust someone you just met, but I promise you. I won't hurt you, and I always keep my promises.
Marshall stood up and held out his hand. Skye looked at it for a bit. She knew she shouldn't, but it was either this or stay in the rain. She took his hand, and he helped her up.
Marshall: My cars this way.
Skye followed Marshall to a beautiful red car that almost looked new. He opened the door for her, and she looked at him one last time. Marshall gave her a reassuring smile, and she climbed in. Marshall jumped into the driver side.
Marshall: I bet it's nice to get out of the rain.
Skye: Yeah, it's nice.
Marshall: You know what else sounds nice?
Skye looked at Marshall and shook her head.
Marshall: A warm shower.
Skye felt her spine shiver. A hot shower sounded amazing. She hadn't had one in a few days, and she needed one.
Skye: That sounds amazing.
Marshall laughed and turned on the radio. Skye turned her head and looked out the window. She cracked a smile and felt a little happier.
Skye's thoughts: I hope I made the right choice.
Skye continued to sit there in silence while Marshall drove, awaiting to see whether she made the right call to trust him. But for some reason, she felt hopeful.
