Yeonjun's eyes are sparkling, entire galaxies to get lost in, and Soobin is sure he could spend the rest of his life like this and not miss a single thing. Time stands still for them, just for a little while.

Then, Yeonjun pulls back a little. His eyes are searching, but Soobin doesn't know what for. He looks nervous, like there is something important on his mind. He swallows and says, "I've got something for you."

"I thought this was my gift," Soobin frowns.

Yeonjun snorts. "A morning blowjob is hardly a gift, Soobin."

"Sure felt like one," Soobin beams down at him. "Besides, you're everything I could ever need." He means it, has probably never been more serious about anything ever before. Yeonjun kisses him, and when he pulls back there's a soft smile on his face

"You're very sweet. But I couldn't let your birthday pass without giving you a gift."

"Alright," Soobin says after a moment of silence.

It's all the answer Yeonjun needs before he pushes himself up, slipping out of bed to walk over to his suitcase. Suddenly, it makes a lot more sense why he had been so adamant about Soobin not touching it.

Yeonjun is still in his boxers, but there is so much skin on display that Soobin isn't nearly done with staring by the time Yeonjun gets back to settle back on the bed. He's sitting now, his hands fidgeting with a small box, and he won't meet Soobin's eyes.

Soobin pushes himself up, pulls up the covers around them a little to protect them from the icy temperature.

"I-" Yeonjun starts and shakes his head. He seems on edge, more than just a moment ago when Soobin had thought it was just about the novelty of it all - giving each other gifts wasn't really something they had done so far. This is more, Soobin can tell. He reaches out to rest his hand on Yeonjun's knee, giving it a little squeeze.

"I actually have two things," Yeonjun says quietly. "The first one is this."

He snaps his fingers and suddenly there's a little potted plant in his hand. His hand is shaking as he stretches it out towards Soobin, who takes it from his grasp and just stares at it. It doesn't take him long to figure out what it is. He'd recognize that flower anywhere.

"It's-"

"-the rose you used your magic on when I asked you about it."

"Yeah," Yeonjun sighs with relief. "It's removed from the greenhouse so it doesn't bloom right now obviously. I mean, it's the middle of winter." He lets out a shaky laugh, and there is so much emotion in it that Soobin drags his gaze away from the plant. "I just- I wanted you to have part of it too, you know? Whenever I am in the greenhouse and see the roses, I think of you. And I know you said you wanted to get more flowers for your apartment, so-"

He leaves the sentence hanging, just shrugging his shoulders as if he isn't sure about this plan anymore. He is frowning at the plant, glaring almost, and Soobin smiles. He reaches up to push two fingers underneath Yeonjun's chin until he has no other choice but to look at him. His eyes are wide, and Soobin can feel him swallow heavily against his fingers.

"Thank you," he says, putting as much sincerity into his voice as he possibly can. "It's perfect. I promise to take good care of it."

It takes a moment but then a matching smile blossoms on Yeonjun's face. It grows and grows until his eyes disappear. It's the best thing Soobin has ever seen. It almost pains him to look away for even just the split second it takes him to turn around and put the plant on his nightstand.

When he turns back around, the smile has disappeared, the look of nervousness right back on Yeonjun's face. He takes a deep breath, and then just thrusts his hand holding the little box forward.
