Dex's POV
I know how it all looks. Setting up my own brother's death seems likely of me, right? But let me tell you, there's more to the story than it seems.
You see, I've always been the good guy, the one who looks out for everyone. I'm a manager in the lumber department and I make sure everything runs smoothly. I'm friendly, hardworking, and reliable. But no one really understands what it feels like to be painted as a monster on a daily basis.
My love for Emily started off innocently enough. I helped her out with a tricky problem at work and ever since then, I couldn't help but feel an inexplicable need to be close to her. It started with small gestures, a friendly chat here, a helpful hand there. But I could feel my love for her grow with each passing day, like a beast waiting to be unleashed.
Emily, she's a kind and intelligent person. She's always been a pillar of strength for me, and I can't help but admire her from afar. But lately, there's been this nagging voice in the back of my mind, whispering doubts and insecurities. It tells me that I'm not good enough for her, that there's someone else who could love and protect her better than I ever could. That voice fills me with rage and jealousy, igniting an uncontrollable fire within me.
As the days went by, I noticed Emily growing distant, seeking solace in the company of our coworkers Lily and Hailey more than me. They've become a tight-knit group, always huddled together during lunch breaks or sharing secrets after work hours.
I eavesdropped and watched them from afar, wondering what secrets they shared, what laughter they exchanged that wasn't meant for my ears. Why not share this with me and only them? Are we not friends? Do we not tell each other everything? Does she not trust me?
But then I heard her talk about her date with Nathan, and a searing pain shot through my chest. Nathan? Her workout trainer? How did I not know about this? Why didn't I know about this?
Emily's face lit up with excitement as she recounted their evening together, oblivious to the torment it was causing me. I couldn't bear the thought of someone else making her happy, of someone else stealing away the light from her eyes that was meant for me alone. It was in that moment that a possessive and obsessive darkness took hold of me, smothering any rational thoughts that remained.
I needed to do something, anything to bring her back to me. But how?
At Emily's apartment complex, I sit in her living room whilst she brings me a cup of tea from her kitchen. "Here you go." Emily says, placing the steaming cup of tea on the table in front of me. Her smile is warm, but there's a hint of concern in her eyes. Mark's death still feels unreal. He's gone because of me. I take a deep breath, trying to push aside the tumultuous thoughts that swirl within me.
"I'm sorry, Emily," I manage to say, my voice shaky. "I never meant for any of this to happen." She sits down across from me, her gaze filled with empathy and understanding.
"It wasn't your fault, Dex. It's not we can control everything that happens in life." Her words are gentle, but they only add fuel to the fire of guilt burning within me. The way she looks at me, it's as if she sees the hell I've been carrying since that fateful day. Will she ever forgive me for my sins? Maybe this way I can protect her the way I failed to do before.
I try to study Emily's face, searching for any sign of forgiveness but all I find is a mix of sorrow and confusion. She can't even look at me. Baby, please. Look at me. I know that it's hard right now but things will get better from now on. I can give you the world, treat you, and make love to you in a way that no one else ever could.
God, you must've been so wet last night, urging for my hot, throbbing cock inside of you while Nathan was making love to you in a way that you'd never experienced before. I can only imagine the ecstasy you felt as he fucked you hard, his body slamming into yours, driving you into a state of pure bliss. But it's not too late, Emily. I can give you the same pleasure, and more. I can be the one that holds you tight and makes you feel truly alive.
