A quick not before I get into the structure and terminology of the mafia.
Most of this terminology is based off fact but some of it is fiction to fit in with the story. If there is a term you do not understand or a specific dynamic or relationship feel free to leave a comment and ill try my best to clarify.
Please note: Most of the characters were brought up thinking they own the world. The dynamics of women in the mafia is very different than the dynamics of women in normal society.

Don- the Don is the leader of a mafia family and is usually considered the most powerful member of the mafia whos authority can only be questioned by the Sotto Don, his Consigliere or occasionally his Donna. -No one is equal or above the Don (aside from Dons of other families).
Donna/ Mafia Queen- the Donna is generally the wife of the Don but sometimes the Donna can be the sole ruler of the family in place of the Don if her father was the original Don of the family before the position became available. -the Donna is usually in charge of all female mafia members. -her opinions are equal to the Sotto Don and the Consigliere but she is higher in position than both. -when it comes to safety the Donna and the Sotto Don are equals the Consigliere coming after them.
Sotto Don/ Mafia Prince- the Sotto Don is the Dons second in command. -usually the Dons eldest son and is groomed to take command when the Don is killed or retires -if the Don has more than one son, the sons excluding the eldest are Mafia Princes and help the Sotto Don the Mafia Prince/s usually becomes Consigliere when the Sotto Don becomes Don. -the Sotto Don is equal to the Consigliere and sometimes the Donna (including matters such as opinion and safety). - the Mafia Prince/s is a level lower than the Consigliere Donna and Sotto Don but since he is the immediate family of the Don his safety is equal to the Donna and Sotto Don and above the Consigliere
Sotto Donna/ Mafia Princess- the Sotto Danna's position in the mafia largely depends on each individual family. -the Sotto Donna is the eldest daughter of the Don or the sister of the Don (if his sister is still a member of the family and not another. -the Sotto Donna is often like a Consigliere to the Donna. -if there is a case where there is no Donna the Sotto Donna is acting Donna. -in some families the title of Sotto Donna is not given and the eldest daughter is just a Mafia Princess (if there are multiple daughters the eldest Mafia Princess leads the women of the mafia under the instruction of her brothers or father with the advice of her sisters(if there is no Donna)) -in some families if the Don has no sons the eldest daughter will become the Sotto Donna and take over the family as Donna when her father vacates the position. -some rare cases even if the Don has sons if the eldest child is a girl she will become Sotto Don just like a son would and succeed he father the same way a son would weather or not she gets married -if the Sotto Don gets married or engaged before he becomes done his wife/fiancée will become Sotto Donna and rise to the position of Donna along with her husband/fiancé -the Sotto Donna and/Mafia Princess/s will be represented by the Donna (if their is no Donna they will be represented by the Sotto Donna or the Sotto Don and Mafia Princes (depending on the family)) -the Mafia Princess is slightly bellow the Mafia Princes but her safety is higher because the Mafia Princes will generally be more protective of her.
Consigliere- the Consigliere/s are the third in command of the Don. -the Consigliere/s are the best friend or brothers of the Don and the Consigliere/s of the Don before this Don. -the Consiglieres are the advisors of the Don and their opinions are valued throughout the mafia. -if something were to happen to the Don (this varies within each family) and the Sotto Don is unfit to take over the top Consigliere will become regent until the Sotto Don is ready to be Don. (-this rule varies depending on the Donnas position in each family.)
Capo- the Capo's "captains" are the level below the Mafia Princes and Princesses they report to the Mafia Princes or the Sotto Don. -the Capo's are in charge of soldiers. -each Capo is in charge of about five soldiers.
Moll- Moll's are generally the daughters or wives of the Consigliere Mafia Princes or Capo's and sometimes soldiers. -a Moll can be a Bunny that rose in the ranks through sex or she can be someone that joined the mafia and rose in the ranks through skill. -Moll's answer directly to the Sotto Donna or Mafia Princesses. Moll's are usually unbothered by the mafia men since they see them as honorable women. a Moll's activity level and power in the mafia varies based on each families view women. -Moll's are usually considered above soldiers.
Soldier- the soldiers work directly under Capo's. -soldiers are highly trained mafia men who are given more advanced jobs. -each soldier is in charge of five gun men.
Gun Man- Gun Men are mafia members with basic training. -each gun man has to take an oath of to the family and are then official members of the family and can rise up in rank. gun men are in charge of dealing with bullets.
Bullet- bullets are unofficial members of the mafia. -they do not take an oath to the family and they are not considered part of the family. -bullets are paid a small amount of money. -the only connections they have with the their mafia is through gun men. -bullets are typically street rats that the mafia employ.
Bunny- bunnies are usually extremely attractive mafia women who sleep around to get around. -Mafia Bunnies usually don't rise in ranks but they use high ranking mafia men as bragging rights amongst each other.
Associates- Associates include Contract Killers, Law Enforcers, Government Officials and many of the Billionaires of the city where the mafia is based. -the Associates are on the mafias payroll, they do inside jobs for the mafia and help keep the mafias activities in the dark and in return the mafia grants these individuals protection.
Please remember that not all of this information is accurate, I did my best to keep it factual but some of it I had to fictionize so you would better understand the story
