CHAPTER SEVEN
"Bad Habit."It was move-in day. At least, that's what the two men in her living room called it. It was the day where they all moved their stuff into the tour bus. Marlene had almost finished packing. Kate was helping her pick out all the essentials. Or rather, just judging everything.
"Why do you only own grandma panties?" Kate questioned herself as she held up a pair of women's boxer briefs. Face scowled up in disgust.
"Because I like them." Marlene replied as she grabbed important trinkets from across her room and shoved them into her suitcase.
"No, this will not do. I recently took advantage of a sale last week and got some real underwear. You need it more than me." Kate said this as she made her way out of the room and then came back with a small bag. She pulled different colored thongs out of it.
"I am not wearing a thong! Emphasis on not!" Marlene shook her head while she packed the last of her stuff inside her suitcase. That's when Robert decided it was the best time to go in.
"Ladies, are we ready?" He did a double take at the thongs hanging from Kate's hand. "What are those?"
Marlene rolled her eyes.
"I'm trying to convince Marlene to take them with her. She might need them." Kate said as Robert grabbed a red one from the two strings. "I absolutely agree. Especially if you'll walk around in just this in the bus."
"Pervert! I would never." Robert held his hands up in defense, the red thong still hanging from his hand.
"Thongs are practical. What if you want to wear a tight dress? Or a skirt? Or maybe the lover boy outside wants a peek." Marlene turned beet red, and Robert let out a cackle.
"That's true, sweetheart. Why don't we ask his opinion on these?" Robert said it with a grin.
"Absolutely not! If I let you pack them, will you leave me alone?"
"Certainly." Kate replied way ahead of her, already folding and snatching the red pair away from Robert.
"Are you not tagging along with us, love?" Robert asked Kate and she rolled her eyes at the nickname.
"Maybe later." She replied with a shrug.
"Okay, what's taking so long? Are you ready?"Elijah came into the room and looked around the room at the three.
It had been three weeks since the kiss in the kitchen. They hadn't said a word about it. Elijah kept his distance. He never touched her if he didn't need to. He wouldn't hang out with her alone, either. It hurt Marlene, but she understood. Understood that the moment they shared in the kitchen wasn't real, just a fleeting moment of weakness.
