Marlene hadn't heard from Inhaler's manager. It was starting to nag at her-it had been three weeks. She had asked Elijah if he knew anything once and never again since she didn't want him to think that she thought she was getting the job just because they were friends. He had told her he didn't know but to not worry. All Marlene could do was worry.

Ever since she was little, Marlene was raised to worry. Having a mother who worried about the simplest things was indeed passed on, and when her mom developed cancer, the worrying turned into everyday overwhelming anxiety. She didn't believe in therapists, which was one of her faults. She didn't know how she was supposed to just trust a stranger with everything that occupied most of her mind.

So, she kept it all in.

She was very good at doing this-stuffing everything down. There were times when her feelings would be on the brink of pouring out of her, but she would control herself before they could. Elijah used to be the person that would help her calm down before that person was Kate.

She was now hoping that Kate would want to stay in and watch Harry Potter or Twilight with her all day so she would feel better.

She had heard her shuffling around her room and wondered what the hell she was up to. As she was about to knock on her door, Kate quickly opened it.
She looked ready to go out.

"Are you going out?" Marlene asked as Kate walked past her into the kitchen.

"Yes," Kate replied, which led to Marlene giving her a puzzled look. Kate would usually always tell Marlene where she was going, so this was extremely weird.

"Oh, where ya' going?" Marlene tried to ask subtly, but it just came out extremely awkward. Kate was filling up her water bottle with ice and water, which she took with her everywhere. Marlene called it her emotional support water bottle.

"Just out, Marls." Kate announced it exasperatedly. She was obviously trying not to tell Marlene where she was going. Marlene obviously took notice of that. It hurt her feelings. It was enough that she was anxious about getting the job, but now she was anxious about what Kate wasn't telling her. She decided not to push it.

"Okay, well, just call me if anything..." She told her as she left the apartment.

Sighing to herself, Marlene decided to clean the apartment to pass the time. She vacuumed, took out the dishes from the dishwasher, and folded clothes.

As she finished folding half of her clothes, she decided that she didn't want to be alone.

So naturally, she called Elijah.

The phone rang once, two times, until he answered.

"Ello?" Elijah answered, and she could tell he was in the middle of something and quickly regretted bothering him.
