One week has went by, without anything happening. No storms, no attacks, no problems and no other discoveries.

It's strange. I expect something to happen every day now. It feels abnormal that I get to live without any troubles and complications.

Uncle Jacob has been helping me as much as he could. It turns out there are far more stories that I haven't heard of about my past. About my parents and this kingdom. Uncle Jacob has finally told me me whole story.

My mother, Keira, and him come from an ancient dynasty where their ancestors apparently had magical powers. Just like me and my mom. At least, that's what he thinks as we are the only two ones he knows to possess such abilities.

One evening, after dinner he told me their story.

A long time ago, our ancestors used to protect this same land. They were the balance of the world. And my mom was just like them. One day, a huge epidemic killed a lot of these people.

The thing is, the rest of them started to get married with people from other countries and other lands, who had no powers. Throughout time, the powers of their descendants started to vanish until it became a legend like many others.

My mother and him descend from these people. They lived where the first one used to live, although a lot had scattered through other kingdoms and continents.

When she arrived to Eden, to get married with my father, Uncle Jacob had come with her. It's then, that she started acting strange. She wouldn't open up to him anymore, she was scared and closed.

One day, he saw it.

Her powers.

She was strolling in the forest and he had seen her. The wind was making leaves twirl around her. Trees where almost bending has she walk by. Animals weren't scared around her. She could also control things with her mind. She had to think about it and the wind, the ocean or the earth would bring it to her. It's only when she arrived in this city that her powers appeared.

- Is it why they only started manifesting themselves when I arrived here too? I asked.

I always wondered why did I only notice them when I came here. They could've appeared during my whole life so why now? When I really don't need them.

- Correct, Uncle Jacob nodded. I still don't know why, but this is the kind of place which shows you who you really are.

- What did you do once you discovered my mother's secret?

- I tried to help her. We searched through books, read all about those ancient legends and she slowly started to master her powers.

- But why couldn't the others know? I asked him. Isn't it a good thing that she was powerful enough to protect the kingdom?

- No. They would've been scared and maybe reject her. Or worse. That's why you shouldn't tell anyone. People don't believe in magic anymore and if they do, they are afraid of it. Because she wasn't here for very long, they would have called her a witch, a curse to the 4 families. I had to protect her.

There was this glint of something in his eyes. Determination. It must bring a lot of nostalgia to be able to speak about her. About her real self.

I don't think he told anybody else what he just told me.

- But my father loved her, he could've understood right?

- Sometimes love isn't enough, Roese.

- He did love her, right? You told me you didn't like him, but why would they have got married then?
