It was sunny outside, the streets were crowded. Do people not work? It's like the middle of the day...
"Y/N, look at this!"
Leyla brought my attention to a cute toy shop. Small and adorable cat plushies were on the display.
"Aww, so adorable!"
Leyla tugged on my sleeve, signalling to go inside the shop.
"You go. I will wait for you here. I wanna breathe some fresh air. Don't be long!"
Layla, without a trace, went inside the shop. I smiled at myself. Turning my face upwards to the sun, I enjoyed the warm sunlight. It was nice how the sun kissed my face. Even tho the cold air gave me tingles all over my body. However, I didn't dislike it more like I embraced the mixture of warm sun and cold air.
"Fancy seeing you here."
That stoic voice made me freez and look to my side in surprise. And there he was, standing in his black turtle neck sweater and black full sized coat. It suited him whatsoever.
"Zayne."
"Y/N. May I ask what you are doing just standing here?"
"I'm waiting for Leyla. She went inside the plushie store."
Zayne just nodded, but his eyes were still on mine. I felt a light blush greet up to my cheeks. However, I wonder why Zayne is here... Doesn't he work today?
" Not like it's my business, but why are you here? Don't you work today?"
"It's truly not your business, but I should please your curiosity. I took off early today. Since I'm still a human, I should take a break now and then. Am I not allowed?"
I put my hands up in protest. His eyes showed somewhat an amusing spark.
"By all means. I just thought doctors were so busy that they disappeared for half a year."
Zayne just laughed a little. He's in a good mood today, that's for sure. It was nice seeing him like this.
"If you're going to nag me about it till our last breath, I should compensate your precious half a year, shouldn't I?"
I was taken aback by his words. I guessed he would bite back for my words.. but what is he initiating right now?
"What are you initiating right now?"
"I guess I coul-"
His words were cut short as Leyla came running out of the shop, calling my name. I turned towards her. Obviously, I glared at her for ruining the moment just now. Wasn't really her fault to begin with, but still.
She stood beside me now and looked at Zayne with a big smile on her face.
She was planning something! I could feel it radiate from her.
"Hey Zayne! Where are you heading to?"
Zayne greeted her with a simple nod.
"To the supermarket."
Leylas' smile grew only bigger. I just stood there in silence, watching as their conversation was going smoothly on and on. Why did I have to be so awkward with him? Why Layla can just talk with him without thinking twice what to say! I felt somehow jealous, I know it's selfish of me to do so. I just can't help when the small jealously tugged on my hearts strings.
"Anyways, we were going to the supermarket ourselves but.... I'm sorry to say this but I have to leave now. Jenna called me while I was in the shop. I believe Zayne will accompany you to the supermarket."
"What? Yo-"
"That's not a problem for me."
My eyes went to Zaynes as he was already looking at me. What he said warmed my heart. These small gestures from him are making my heart beat faster and faster.
