It didn't take long for Akari to find her again.
"Why couldn't they just give us the keys," Mira groaned to herself as she fumbled with her locker lock. "M' ganna be late to my bus,'' she looked around, and sure enough, the hallways were almost empty, as the remaining students shuffled out.
"Of course, you are dumbass, hurry up," Jay said. "I'm gonna leave if you take another minute."
"Says the one whos is math for the dumb kids, " Mira mumbles as she hears him sigh impatiently. Sometimes, he was a dick, but they were still best friends.
Jay made some sort of quiet strangled sound as he saw who was walking straight at them both.
Mira finally swung her locker open, giving a slight pause to celebrate, thrusting her fist into the air. A hand slammed into her locker door, and it thumped shut. "What the fu-," Mira spun around, already pissed. But as soon as she saw who did it, her mouth went dry. "Ak-"
"Still haven't taken back your gum," she said as she eyed the box, and she tossed it into the air and caught it.
"Mh..."
She was being towered over by Akari, whose hand had been conveniently placed right next to Miras head. "Come on. What's wrong?"
Akari turned to peek at Jay who was now eerily quiet. That fucker ditched me...
A laugh rumbled out of Akaris mouth. It was sweet but powerful at the same time. "Here," she said holding out her hand with the pack of gum laid flat across. "Now that your friend isn't here, I wanna ask you something."
Mira gulped. "Mhm... what is it?" her voice slightly trembled when her hand caressed the taller girl's hand as she took the pack of gum.
"See the winter dance... I want a partner."
Miras knees almost gave out, at the foreseeable request.
"You're gorgeous. So.. I was thinking... maybe... you could come with me?" It was Akaris turn to blush.
Mira was needing it like her life depended on it. "Yeah... Yes of course!"
Akari smiled. "Alright then. Get your shit. We'll walk out together."
