As YN arrived home, she stepped inside, only to find her fiancé, Minho, sitting in the living room with his family. The atmosphere felt warm, filled with casual conversations and polite smiles.
She greeted them briefly before heading straight to her room. Her mother, noticing the shift in her mood, followed her inside.
YN
My mind was still clouded with thoughts of the man from earlier. His presence, his gaze, the way he smirked at me—it all unsettled me.
Because of him, my mood was completely ruined. Ugh, now everyone must be thinking I’m rude for walking away like that.
"What happened, YN? Are you okay?" Eomma’s voice pulled me out of my thoughts.
"Yes, Eomma, I just felt a little sick, so I came to my room," I lied, forcing a small smile.
"It’s okay. I’ll send food to your room," she said softly before leaving.
I walked to my window, letting the cool breeze wash over me, hoping it would ease the strange unease in my chest. But just as I was beginning to relax, I heard footsteps behind me.
Turning around, I found Minho standing there.
"Everything okay, YN?" he asked, concern lacing his voice.
"Yes, Minho, everything is fine. It’s just…" I trailed off.
"You can tell me," he assured me, stepping closer.
Sighing, I finally admitted, "When I was coming back, there was this guy… he was fighting outside our college with someone. He seemed… strange."
"Oh, that’s all?" Minho chuckled lightly. "YN, these kinds of things happen all the time. There’s no need to stress over it."
I frowned. "No… he was different. I don’t know why, but I just have a bad feeling about him."
Minho smiled reassuringly. "Sometimes, seeing things like that can shake us up, but trust me, it’s nothing. Just forget it, okay?"
I hesitated but eventually nodded. "Okay… if you say so."
Minho gave me a comforting smile before pulling me into a hug. I returned the embrace, letting myself relax for a moment. After he left, I changed into my nightwear, hoping for a peaceful sleep.
But the uneasy feeling never faded.
I tossed and turned in bed, my mind refusing to rest. That man’s face kept flashing in my thoughts. His piercing eyes. That smirk.
Why can’t I stop thinking about him?
With a frustrated sigh, I grabbed my sleeping pills, took one, and finally drifted into unconsciousness.
The Next Morning
I was deep in sleep when I felt someone shaking me.
"YN, wake up! You’re late!"
"Ahh, Eomma… just five more minutes," I groaned, burying my face in the pillow.
"Child, get up now! Breakfast is almost ready," she scolded before walking out of the room.
Reluctantly, I dragged myself out of bed and made my way to the bathroom. After freshening up, I headed downstairs—only to freeze mid-step.
A man was sitting on the couch.
Not just any man.
Him.
My heart nearly stopped.
He sat there, exuding an aura of dominance and power, while several bodyguards stood behind him like statues. His presence alone made the entire room feel suffocating.
I felt my pulse quicken. What is he doing here?
Slowly, I walked toward him, my brows furrowed in confusion. He smirked the moment his gaze landed on me.
"Oh, princess, you’re finally here," he said smoothly.
My breath hitched. "Who are you? And why are you in my house?" I demanded, my voice sharp.
He tilted his head slightly, his smirk never fading. "You forgot me already? How disappointing," he mused. "No worries—I already spoke to your father about why I’m here."
I turned to Appa in confusion. "Appa… what is he saying? Tell him to leave!"
Before my father could answer, the man suddenly grabbed my wrist, pulling me toward him. His eyes locked onto mine with an intensity that sent a shiver down my spine.
"I will marry you," he stated, his voice unwavering. "And I came here to officially inform your father about my proposal."
My eyes widened in horror. "What the hell are you talking about?! Let me go!" I struggled against his grip.
"Leave her, please! What has she done?" Appa pleaded, desperation clear in his voice.
But the man remained unfazed. "I love her," he declared firmly. "And she will marry me. If you refuse… well, you already know what I’m capable of."
Tears welled up in my eyes as I looked at my father, my voice barely above a whisper. "Appa… what is he saying? Please, tell me…"
Appa didn’t answer immediately. His eyes, usually strong and full of wisdom, now brimmed with silent pain. He turned away, his hands trembling.
"My child… don’t worry," he finally spoke, though his voice cracked. "Nothing will happen to you. Your appa is here… I will protect you."
But his words didn’t comfort me.
Because for the first time in my life, I saw fear in my father’s eyes.
Then, my mother rushed over, wrapping her arms around me. I felt her body tremble as she patted my back, whispering words of reassurance, but the fear in her voice betrayed her.
I had felt something was wrong from the moment I saw that man.
And now, standing in my own home with my parents shaken and powerless, I realized— Everything had already begun to fall apart.
