PICTURE OF ALINA ----->
“Babe, just give it some time and I assure you everything will work out perfectly. Just calm down or the stress will get to you out in the studio and you'll never be satisfied with the pictures.” Laurence smiled and pushed back my long brown hair and kissed my forehead soothingly before taking my hand and leading me further into the building where we'd take our wedding pictures.
I sighed and nodded, knowing better than to argue. It wouldn't get me anywhere. The fact was I didn’t even want the stupid pictures taken in the first place so therefore I’d be satisfied with anything as long as it was done. He was the one who wouldn’t be satisfied with anything less than perfect. But oh well, by that point I really didn’t care and he knew it. So far everything wedding wise that I had stressed out about had been completed but not in the way I wanted it done. In fact I had had positively no say in anything that had been done and the only reason it was done was for my soon-to-be mother in law.
It was my wedding too, so why couldn’t I have at least a little say in how it went? I clenched my jaw and followed obediently into the main studio. My gaze swept the room, taking in the splash of sunlight that hit the far wall due to the setting sun that painted the enormous window pain that the opposite wall held. I squinted against the harsh light for a moment before taking in the view that the large loft had being so high above most of New York City, being mesmerized immediately. My jaw hung slightly as I turned to Laurence. “It's beautiful, how did you find the studio?” I asked, noting the way he had turned away and was shielding himself against the sight.
“A friend recommended it, I might have to change our plans though. This blasted sun is horrible!”
I felt a small twinge of disappointment. I should've known, he would never see the true beauty that I saw displayed before the two of us. “No, don't! I love it, it's the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. Besides I’ll be here more than you will. After all, the bride always takes more time than the groom needs to.” I said gently.
He sighed and pulled out his phone as it rang. “Alright, I guess we can stay.” he replied, looking at the slender black electronic.
I looked around the room with growing frustration as I waited for his next excuse. I knew he was going to be leaving for some sort of 'business', he always did. Or so he said. All in all I really didn’t know why I continued to put up with everything he threw at me and did. I knew I had to marry him but that didn’t mean I wanted to. In fact that was the last thing I wanted. Hell, I didn’t ever want to be married much less to Laurence. But for once I had pleased my family and that in itself is a major accomplishment. I had brought so much disappointment to them and they loved Laurence so I didn’t want to disappoint them now.
I looked over as I heard the phone snap shut. “Hey, honey I'm sorry but I’ve got to go. There’s this meeting and they're wanting me to present and....”
“You've got to go or else it'll be the end of you.” I finished dryly and waved my hand. “Go on, I’ll get started here.”
He smiled, relieved. “Thanks for understanding babe, I love you.” he said quickly while kissing my cheek as he hurried away before I could reply. That was fine, I didn’t want to feel like I was lying to him by saying I loved him too. I wasn’t exactly sure anymore.
