My name is Opal Scott, I'm 23 years old, I have long curly ginger hair (it hangs past my waist), brown eyes, and freckles, I'm 5'1, and I still live with my parents. I don't have a job and quite frankly don't know if I even want a job. Here's the thing though, my parents sat me down last night and told me they're planning to sell the house and move to Florida next week. Sounds like a dream vacation right? Wrong. Turns out they don't even want me to go with them?! Can you believe it? If you don't, here's how that conversation went... (Totally not overly dramatized because I'm a baby or anything..)
Mom: "Your father and I wanted to sit down and talk to you Opal.."
Dad: "Yeah honey, come sit with us."
Me: "Okay, what's wrong?"
Mom: "Well we decided to sell the house and move to Florida next week! Isn't that exciting?"
Me: "OMG Mom yes! Of course that's exciting! I should hurry and start packing! eeeep!"
Mom: "Oh no honey... We don't plan on bringing you along. We hate you, you're lazy, we don't want you around, and you eat too much food."
Yup, that's exactly what she said and exactly what I heard. Don't ask questions.... Fine. What she actually said was...
"Oh no honey... Your father and I both agree that you are an adult and think you should venture out on your own now. Listen we are getting older and we just think that retiring in Florida would be great for us, and will allow you to find yourself while not being stuck at home all the time."
Not that different huh? She clearly said she hated having me around. *Scoffs* What I don't understand is why they have to sell their house here and have me basically homeless for them to be happy. What's worse is I'm standing here talking to a wall thinking I'm breaking this 4th wall thing like I'm in a movie or something.
"Ugghhhh This sucks." I said while putting a pillow over my face.
At least she gave me a week's notice... I should look around Facebook to see if any of my old friends would help me out.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After texting almost all of my friends list, that isn't family of course, I'm down to my last two. Now I know I probably should've texted them first but for the theatrics, I wanted to see who would've said yes just in case these last two say no. As expected, no one said yes. They all said some version of "I'm still living with my parents" or "My spouse wouldn't like that" Which is understandable, but come on. Be serious, did my graduating class all decide to just be either mooching off their parents or married? Ridiculous. I mean the parents thing clearly I'm all for, but marriage? At 23? I know it's common and all that but... I don't think I could see myself getting married right now. I mean I feel like I haven't done anything, but I guess everyone's lives are different. Anyway, I got a little off track there... As I was saying, my last two friends are Kai Sinclair and Lilly Peterson.
Kai Sinclair is 23 years old like me and is a childhood friend of mine. From what I remember he is nerdy and shy, and he loves video games. I guess those traits followed through to his adult life considering his job at this big tech company. He graduated at 16 and always has been determined to do what he loves so he went straight into college after high school and graduated from a computer engineering university. He has bright green eyes, brown shaggy hair, freckles, and from the last I saw him (high school) very short and skinny. Truth be told I haven't spoken to him since high school which is why he will be the last person I contact because I highly doubt he'd want to see me let alone let me live in his house.
