"kehlani wake your ass up right now"

was the first thing kehlani heard as she awoke. the second thing she heard was her alarm blaring on her phone.

"lani i'm serious hurry up we're gonna be late"

kehlani turned over to reveal her best friend amyah standing at the side of her bed.

"late for what" kehlani asked while turning off her alarm.

"the airport you dumbass, now hurry up your mom's already in the car waiting for us" amyah replied.

"oh, yeah i remember that" kehlani said dragging out the word 'oh' in realization.

"omg i swear you're so dumb sometimes, hurry up and get ready i'll be waiting in the car with your mom" amyah stated while leaving the room.

with that kehlani got up and stretched a little. then she checked her phone for the time sighing as she saw it was 1 am. she regretted booking their flight for so early in the morning but she knew it was necessary if she wanted to make it to disney world by the time it opened. she went over the schedule in her head. they had to get to the airport by 1:30 to get through security and check their bags by 2. then they would have time to get something quick for breakfast then head to their gate by 2:20 seeing as their flight left at 2:30. she decided not to waste anymore time and got her bags and everything then headed to the car. as she got in the car her mom asked her a question.

"hey honey, you ready for your trip" she asked.

"yeah i'm excited, but i'm also nervous because it's my first trip without you and i'm going across the country" she replied while fidgeting with her hands.

her mom looked over at her for a second before refocusing on the road.

"raerae, listen i know you're nervous but it's going to be okay amyah's going with you and cherie said aryan's gonna be at disney too, she said he has to do a little filming because of the show he was just in but he should be free if you really need anything" she told kehlani.

with a sigh kehlani said "mom you know aryan and i don't really talk anymore"

"yeah i know that but what i don't get is why i mean last time i saw you two together you guys were inseparable, what happened?" her mom asked trying to get to the bottom of it.

"it's complicated ok, but i guess if it makes you feel any better if me and amyah have a serious problem that we can't get of i'll ask him ok" kehlani said lying through her teeth.

her mom was unconvinced, she knew her daughter well. but she decided not to fight her on it seeing as this would be the last time she'd see her for a couple days.

"okay kehlani, you better not be lying to me" her mom said while pulling up to the airport.

"i'm not mom, bye i love you" kehlani stated hugging her mom before getting out of the car to get her bags.

"i love you too raerae, bye amyah" her mom said looking at kehlani then watching amyah getting out of the car.

"bye mrs. jones, see you soon" amyah said, following kehlani to the trunk.

"i know she won't like this but it's for her own good" kehlani's mom said sighing, then taking her phone out and texting someone while she watched the girls walk into the airport.

once they get settled on the plane, Amyah turns to kehlani as she says "hey lani why didn't you tell your mom about what happened with aryan".

"look myah i don't wanna talk about this right now ok, i just wanna relax on this flight and enjoy our trip, drama free remember" kehlani says while giving her friend an unimpressed look.

"ok i get it, drama free i'll try but i'm not making any promises and as soon as we get back home we're talking about this" amyah said putting her hands up in mock surrender.

"yeah okay" kehlani replied putting on her headphones and staring out the window.

she knew this topic was a sore subject for her friend. i mean her childhood best friend who she was in love with cheated on her with some famous actor chick and practically skipped off into the sunset with her.

the dude's a total asshole and if she ever saw him again she'd be sure to slap the taste out of his mouth for her friend.

amyah just didn't know what went wrong with the dude her and kehlani had started being friends when she was ten so she had seen aryan a great deal of times over the years and she knew him well enough to know he was a good person or at least she had thought he was until kehlani had explained what happened.

at the beginning of the conversation amyah had been excited because she had always seen the connection between aryan and kehlani and had felt that they'd be perfect for each other until she'd noticed kehlani was crying on the other end of the phone and she grew concerned then kehlani explained what happened and she was immediately on her way to grab some ice cream and head over to her friends house to watch the notebook.

it took her weeks to get kehlani to even laugh again. it was a horrible time period for them both.

that's why she was confused that kehlani hadn't told her mom what happened she didn't want her friend to get hurt again and with how close aryan's mom and hers are it's very likely that she'd have to deal with him at some point if her mom doesn't know why they stopped talking.

but she decided to leave it alone for now because kehlani was right this trip was supposed to be drama free and only god knows how much they need it.

but apparently they can't have it for long because as soon as they settle into their hotel kehlani gets a text.
