Their uneventful lives seemed to pass like a flash of light; the girls started noticing that their bodies were changing. However, they weren't the only ones. All the girls at the Supreme Club started developing, which caused a stir in emotions amongst the managers, who started fretting over the girls' acne, weight fluctuations and hormones. All of which weren't controllable. Misoo and Seolya paid no attention to these gradual changes until they were sat in their shared room once again, where Seolya broke the news to the younger."I started my period."
Misoo looked at her, stunned at the sudden statement. "Is that a good thing?"
"I don't know, but it's really uncomfortable since I have to wear a pad," responded Seolya.
"Who did you get it from?"
"I had to go to Kimmy for it."
This made Misoo pull a sour face. "Ooh yikes. I wish there were more women here that we could go to instead of her. She always stinks funny, her boobs spill out of her clothes and her room's a mess."
Amidst shared giggles, Misoo and Seolya exchanged knowing looks, amused by the thought of the woman's room. Known for her eclectic fashion sense, it was a space where every fashion era collided—a mishmash of promiscuous outfits and Victorian blouses. The cluttered scene resembled a chaotic marketplace, with garments strewn about and makeup products scattered on black vanities. Despite the disorder, there was a quirky charm to the room, captivating in its boundless creativity. They'd appreciate it more if it didn't smell of every drug mixed into a potion.
"Pfft. I doubt anyone would want to work with her," laughed Misoo, since the thought of anyone being able to bear her for even five minutes was a miracle.
"You never know, with the amount of clothes and makeup she has, she might be able to transform herself," pointed out Seolya, although she did end up agreeing with Misoo. "Mr Joon said we don't have to work when we have our periods," stated Seolya with a smile. "That's 7 days of no work for me!"
The statement made Misoo's eyes glint with happiness. "Really? You're so lucky! Awe man I wish I already started. Since I'll be twelve soon my period's probably around the corner!"
Our main protagonist is unfortunately a slightly delayed bloomer, meaning she started a few weeks after turning 14. She was very bitter about it for a long time but eventually decided that there was no use in being upset over a natural thing she couldn't control.
"Mr Joon said that I'd probably start getting cramps and other stomach problems, so he got me this medicine that he says I need to start taking. It tastes funny."
"At least he's prepared for it."
As Misoo and Seolya settled into a comfortable silence, they reached for their notebooks and began to doodle. With school over and work yet to begin, their options for entertainment were limited. The confines of the building restricted their movements, leaving them with little to do but occupy themselves within its walls. While they could have stayed home in their apartments, the hours drastically slowed down and moved sluggishly within the walls of their homes with nothing to do. Spending time with each other seemed more fulfilling.
Seolya was propped up against the headboard of the bed, a pillow on her lap that acted as a table with a school notebook on top. Her pen twirled between her fingers as she diligently answered questions. Meanwhile, Misoo was lying on her stomach at the end of the bed, her legs swinging in the air as she drew whatever came to mind with her pencil and colours surrounding her. They treasured these moments and space with each other, keeping the setting peaceful between them. However, Misoo suddenly remembered a question that had been lingering at the back of her mind for the last couple of days, itching her to try and find an answer.
