Chapter 5; Fate & Companion

" there he is!" heeseung pointed with his staff as melody and jay arrived right after, panting as they hold onto their knees.

when they looked up, they met eyes with a male who looked a little younger than them, extremely tall , like really really really tall, and definitely human thats for sure.

" HELP ME" he cried and pleaded as he tried to wrestle and fend off the werewolf.

" I DONT REALLY HAVE A CHOICE" jay yells back as he opened his palm to summon his moonshard blade from his hand. they just recently discovered that they can store their weapons in their bodies temporarily before summoning them in their hands when engaged in battles.

" damn what a beauty" heeseung stares at the blade in awe as he looked at his own staff held in his right hand. "can we switch?"

snickering at his comment, jay wasted no time in charging towards the werewolf, making it let go of the boy as melody pulled him towards her protectively. in a split second, she summoned her bow in her hand to shield the boy if the werewolf charged towards them.

" are you okay?" melody asked the male as he clung onto the sleeve of her shirt tightly, looking fairly traumatised by the whole werewolf preying on him scenario.

" thank you, are you all human?" he asks as his eyes focused on jay who was still battling with the werewolf. it sure was a tough one, far more agile and powerful than the goblins earlier.

" me and that guy who's avenging you are humans. the guy holding the staff is a wizard who saved us and helped us get here. how about you? how did you end up h-" before she could finish explaining, a loud shriek caused her head to snap towards jay.

" HEESEUNG HELP ME , YOU'RE A DAMN WIZARD" jay yelled as he dodged the werewolf's claws which were relentlessly flung towards him. jay swung his blade to intercept but unfortunately, to no avail. the werewolf was without a doubt overpowering the male.

" say please" heeseung teased.

" you know what" melody sighs as she pulls the boy behind her, pulling on the string of her bow as she aimed at the werewolf who was tackling jay.

" JAY DO YOU THINK YOU CAN HOLD IT DOWN FOR A SEC" melody yells at the male before receiving an "ok" sign, signalling that it was time for action.

without wasting anymore time, she hurriedly aimed for any of the werewolf's body part, just wanting it to pierce anywhere so that jay could free himself.

as soon as the werewolf had a moment of stationary,she drew the bow and released it seconds after, watching as the arrow engulf into flames and dug its way into the werewolf's side.

the creature let out a cry of pain before tumbling over and falling onto the hard gravel ground.

" heeseung you're useless" jay scoffed as he reunited with the three of them, one of which is their newly acquired acquaintance.

" i was going to help! melody was just quicker jeez" heeseung rolled his eyes as he turned to melody with the timid boy behind her.

" as i was saying earlier, how did you end up here?" melody asks once more, finishing her once cut off sentence from earlier.

" i kinda stole a car with my two friends and we sped on the road since it was empty at midnight, but a lady suddenly appeared out of nowhere and jaywalked. so we ran into her then i panicked and jerked the wheel. basically we crashed into a lamp post after. when i woke up i was already in this weird city, and i was walking cluelessly before a werewolf jumped me. i thought i would die right after i died. thank you guys." the boy rambled as he bowed slightly to them at his last sentence.

wait a minute.

" what time and where did you crash into the lady?" melody asks as something was clicking in her head.

could it be?

" about 12.15am, outside the Apex Innovators building."

as soon as those words, carrying a painfully familar company name left his mouth, melody screeched as her eyes widened.

" YOU LITTLE SHIT"

the boy's eyes widened as he shielded his body from melody's punches, leaving jay, heeseung and himself extremely dumbfounded at what was happening.

" was that lady, you?" heeseung put the pieces together as he asked the first question that came into his mind, making all three of them whip their heads towards him, surprised.

" so you were the reckless teenager" melody pinches the bridge of her nose, shaking her head as the boy looked at her apologetically.

" im sorry, we were impulsive and stupid." the boy lowered his head as he frowned, feeling the weight of his actions push him down, making him feel tiny.

to their surprise, melody let out an airy chuckle as she shook her head, using her fingertips to push boy's chin up, so he was now facing her again. but this time, she was smiling.

" it's alright, that life was not so desirable anyway. working my ass off from 7am till midnight everyday with zero social life and zero support from my absent parents was like hell. eventhough i only just arrived here like you, i feel so much weight being lifted off my shoulders. i had long been wanting to escape the shakles of that life. so, don't apologise. " melody smiled sadly, remembering all her tired days, stressful days, depressing days. she was tired of it all. and this odd realm was weirdly comforting and thrilling. something she enjoyed. although she probably died back in her world, she was oddly pleased with her newly acquired one.

seeing how the teen still had some guilt lingering in his eyes, she placed both her hands on his shoulders before pulling him towards her into an embrace. she had to tiptoe ever so slightly since he was about a head and a half taller than her. basically towering over her.

" don't feel bad, okay? and what's your name?" melody rubbed his back as she slowly pulled away from the embrace, an arm still resting on his back. he was like a younger brother she didn't know she needed.

" okay, thank you. and my name is riki. nishimura riki, but just riki is good." riki smiled as he looked at the other two males standing around them.

" im glad i met all of you" he says, voice laced with nothing but pure gratitude.

he sure was a pure one.

" im just happy melody and i aren't the only humans brought here due to being sandwiched by a car. " jay replies as his odd humor made them abrupt in laughter.

" im jay" jay added as he waved his hands slightly.

" and im heeseung! im not a weak human! im a cool wizard!" heeseung chirped as all three of the glared at him, making him do a zip action infront of his lips.

" by the way riki, do you have any weapons? do you have the weird projection thing which has quests on them?" jay inquired, remembering his quest of saving the human who turned out to be riki.

" um i kinda woke up to a werewolf dragging my leg so i dont think the quest or anything had the opportunity to show up" riki smiled awkwardly as he scratched his nape.

as if on cue, a blue projection flashed infront of all four of them , making them turn to each other confusely.

jay and melody read their's first.

QUEST 2: SAVE HUMAN FROM WEREWOLF NEAR THE BREW HAVEN | STATUS : COMPLETED

" alright! 10 more coins! i wonder what the next quest is." jay cheered as the coins appeared on his palm, stuffing it into his pocket.

riki then turned to look at his, still bewildered at the whole scene unfolding.
