Who I Am
1 You see my eyes, not what they hide,
You see my smile, not the pain it hides,
You see my hands, not the scars that show my battle,
You see my body, not the bruises from my fights and battles.
Finally, you see me, not knowing that I'm slowly breaking as you watch.
I'm in constant pain, I've been through mental abuse and trauma.
My heart is constantly breaking and shattering.
I hide my pain behind my smile, and the "glimmer" in my eyes.
One word, and boom, I've exploded.
Be cautious around me,
For you never know
When I could break
I want to scream, cry, fight,
Yet, I sit back and hold it in.
The most silent ones are the most deadly ones.
I'm broken, shattered, and almost done.
2 My smile hides the pain I hold in.
On the outside, I seem calm;
Inside, I'm crying out for help.
I've dealt with pain most of my time,
It's not easy.
I'm calm, yet deadly,
Quiet, yet loud,
Happy, yet breaking,
Smiling, yet crying,
Breathing, yet trying.
When silent, something's wrong,
Watch closely, you can tell.
I've been holding on so long,
Very soon, you might have to yell.
There seems to be no help,
My only getaway is to write,
As there are few who will listen
No one else seems to care
I don't know what else to do,
You left, left me falling
Falling deeper and faster
Into that black hole,
And I'm drowning
3 My mind is in a constant cycle,
A cycle that never ends
Always spinning, always in motion.
Happy, sad, and depressed, jumping constantly.
The pain at the heart never dies,
It's like knives in your chest,
The piercing of the bullet never comes,
For the weight is too much to bear.
What can save me from the darkness?
There is no light to guide,
It's black, black as night,
For the hole opens wide.
As I'm swallowed into the hole,
There seems to be a yearning,
Tugging and crying out,
Trying to be heard.
My mind is in a constant cycle,
A cycle that never ends.
Always spinning, always in motion.
Happy, sad, and depressed, jumping constantly.
