The morning sun painted the town of Mystic Falls in hues of gold. Damon Salvatore stood by the window, watching Elena pack her bags. The air smelled of heartache.

Elena: “Damon, I thought we were forever.”

Her voice trembled, and he felt the weight of his choice. He had picked Elena, but his heart screamed for Klaus.

Damon: “Elena, I—”

But the words stuck in his throat. He had chosen safety over passion, familiarity over chaos.

Elena: “You’re distant, Damon. Cold. What happened to us?”

He touched her cheek, memories flooding back—their stolen kisses, whispered promises, and the nights they’d danced on the edge of eternity.

Damon: “I thought I was doing the right thing. But love isn’t always right, Elena.”

She left, tears staining her cheeks. The door closed, and Damon sank to the floor.

Outside, the world spun. Klaus Mikaelson haunted his thoughts. The hybrid who had ignited his soul, who had shown him love beyond reason.

He ran through the forest, the wind whipping his hair. His heart raced, and he knew—he had to find Klaus.
