A/n: Again sorry for spelling/grammar mistakes. Wrote this about two years ago. If you'd like me to have a "cast" type chapter let me know.
"If you guys ever have kids and one of them when he's eight years old accidentally sets fire to the living room rug... Go easy on him."
(-Back To The Future)I finally was able to get away from mom and her terrible attempts to get me to meet new people. And luckily Mrs. Myers' kids were nowhere to be found. Sadly, I'm meeting them later tonight when we have leftovers for dinner. Mom invited the Myers over.
"Here," my best friend Molly-Sara handed me a box of popcorn before looking around the church carnival. Less of a carnival and more on the lines of the only ride is a hayride. "Where's the beef?" She questions.
"People still say that?" I question myself as I pop a few corns into my mouth.
"No doy," Molly-Sara rolled her eyes at me. "The only guys here are our parents, good boy church boys, and.." she trailed off. A small giggle escaped her. "Rider..."
I choke on my popcorn and she starts slapping my back. I cough the popcorn up and look at her. "Rider!?"
"Shh!" She slaps a hand over my mouth. We get weird looks from people walking past, I lightly wave as they pass. Molly-Sara retreats her hand. "Are you crazy? He could have heard you," she points at the guy in question who's at the puppet show. He's seen giving suckers to kids and teens.
"It's just... Rider? The youth pastor? Are you crazy?" I asked as I stare at the guy.
"He's cute," Molly-Sara huffed. Kinda reminds me of the old pictures of James Dean my mom has from her childhood. "To bad he's not our age."
"Eh I guess," I shrug before letting out a small giggle. "He's all yours Juliet."
"Haha," I swear if we were not at a church event Molly-Sara would give me the bird. "By the way fourth of July is coming up in a couple days, there's going to be a dance in the town square. My mom said it's 50s themed. She called it a sock hop... Think Rider will ask me?"
"Doubtful," I tell her and grab some cotton candy. "He's what? Twenty eight? And you're seventeen."
"Eighteen this fall," she huffs. She lightly pushes me. "But besides my future summer romance, got your own? You know besides swooning over Anthony Michael Hall?"
I shook my head no. I'm not that interested in dating since my ex-boyfriend, Patrick, broke up with me. He broke my heart after he just randomly broke up with me one day. He didn't explain why or anything. To make things worse, he broke up with me over the phone. Jonathan was listening in using the kitchen phone.
"C'mon," Molly-Sara grabbed me by the arm and dragged me to the hayride. I nearly stumbled when getting on, but someone grabbed my other arm before I face planted. Looking up I saw a girl with light brown and blonde hair. "Thanks!" Molly-Sara gave her a smile while plopping me next to her. The girl I didn't recognize sat across from us, a caramel apple was in her hand.
Sunglasses were nearly falling off her nose and she was talking to a girl from my math class last semester. A guy who also didn't look familiar got on and sat next to her. He looked highly annoyed.
The girl was dressed in plain white sneakers, blue and pink shorts and a blue shirt. Her hair was up in a side ponytail using a scrunchie. The guy on the other hand was wearing a jean jacket, white Tshirt, and jeans. His Converse seemed to be beat up.
I felt the tractor start to pull the trailer we were sitting on, seeing my brother off in the distance playing a carnival game. We passed some signs pointing out the town dance, Molly-Sara mentioned before. Plus something about A Model Family In Youth.
