ARTEMAS DOMINGUEZ,

i sat at my desk, my eyebrows furrowed as i tried to connect to my wifi. this stupid fuckin' Internet wasn't working, i didn't understand why it always did that. i paid for it every month, nobody besides me used it since my mom had her own.

i slumped back in my chair, "mierda." mutters spewed out of my mouth while i watched the wifi load then the red letters popped up under the loading symbol, conexión inestable, sin internet.

i got out of my chair, kneeling beside my desk to look at the wifi box. maybe it wasn't connected, i probably accidentally unplugged the wire. i lifted the small white box but all of the wires were in the right place.

my eyes followed the wires that lead to the box out of my window, on the side of my house. after i moved towards the window and stuck my head out, i saw my neighbor (the youngest) sitting with his laptop.

"hola," the young boy greeted. i lifted my head more and accidentally crashed it into my window door.

"puta madre," i mumbled quietly and set my gaze back onto the boy. "hola."

"gracias por compartir la contraseña wifi." he said, and raised an eyebrow at his words. when did i share my wifi?

i stood up fully and listened as he continued to speak. "we get no signal inside, but it's great out here." apolo, which i think was his name, pointed to his home.

after i blew my hair away from my face, i gave him a confused look. "i'm apolo," i was correct.

"my brother ares said you gave him the wifi password." your sexy brother is a fuckin' liar.

"soy artemas," he smiled slightly as i introduced myself as well. it was probably because me and his eldest brother have the same name.

"so.." apolo trailed off and closed his computer. he stood up from his chair and waved, "bueno te veré luego."

"adiós." i said back, offering a tight lipped smile. the back of my head was pounding.

i looked up to the window that was about a few feet away from mine, it was ares' room. the yellow light in his room reflected his shadow onto the white curtains as he walked around.

"how did he get my wifi?" i muttered to myself when i backed away from my window and closed the curtains.

that explained why my wifi never worked. i've changed the password multiple times, how did he keep getting it.

NO ONE,

waking up to blaring music from outside wasn't on artemas’' bucket list. she sat up in her bed, rubbing the sleep from her eyes as she took in her surroundings.

the girl adjusted the straps to her tank top and slowly got up from her bed with a little wobble. she still had a killer headache from when she banged her head on window.

more human confrontation wasn't something she wanted, specifically at this time of night but she wanted the music to stop so she could sleep.

she walked over to the window -- where she was before when she spoke to apolo.

the computer that had the loud music was closer to her house than it was to his. ares sat on the table in the middle of their houses and lit a cigarette, taking a slow inhale of it.

does she confront him or ask him to turn the music down? she's wasting money on him and his brother, why not confront?

"are you using my wifi?" she asked. there wasn't much light besides the fairy lights that dangled from her window sill.

he took a moment to respond, he could finally speak to her.  after an exhale of the cigarette, he answered. "sí." he answered smoothly.

"if you needed it, you could've asked." she said with a polite undertone. the girl hates speaking to people in general but she was polite regardless.

"mine isn't working, so now i'm using yours." he moved away from the table and turned towards her window, lifting his head.

this was love at first sight for him, though it wasn't his first sight, she took his breath away.

"at least you admit it." artemas turned her gaze away and looked at the laptop.

"la honestidad es mi mejor cualidad." he looked at every aspect of her face, from the distance between them, she was still so pretty.

"you're such an ass." artemas spoke, but she didn't really mean it and if ares could smirk at this moment, he would've.

"you know me well, right?" he stepped forward, more into the light. she knew lots, but not as much as he knew about her. "pero también sé cosas sobre ti que se supone que no debería saber, artemas."

that was ironic, she had found out every single thing he knew about her. he hacked her computer, she returned the favor.

her eyes flickered around his face for a second and nodded at his words. she knew what he knew about her. "turn down the music, por favor y deja de usar mi wifi."

"or what?" ares walked towards the laptop, "seguiré usando tu wifi, no puedes hacer nada para detenerme."

he grabbed the laptop and looked at the screen before closing it and bringing his gaze back to artemas. "buenas noches, diosa." he stared for a bit longer, seeming to struggle taking his eyes off of her.
