Melesy had been out of jail for two weeks now.
The woman decided it was finally time to visit her mother. It was something she had been dreading.
The two had a strained relationship, clearly being unable to foster it more as she was imprisoned.
Melesy had asked her best friend, Jhianna, to take her because hadn't gotten a car yet.

Melesy noticed her best friend had arrived by the music that was blasting from her car. Get Right by JLO (ft. Fabulous)Melesy laughed while walking to the car.
Jhianna unlocked her car doors. "There's my lu' jail birdddd!"
Melesy mugged Jhianna, "I'oughta whoop to ass. You ain't funny Jhia."
Jhianna just laughed at the girl, she had missed her so desperately, she could handle that little attitude.
Melesy rolled her eyes and smiled, "Thank you fa' driving me Jhia, for real."
"I always gotchu darlin'. We going to ya' momma's crib, yeah?"
Melesy nodded and told her the address.
For the whole car ride they caught up on how they've been these last 8 years. Though Jhianna stayed solid as a motherfucker they ain't get to get in each other ass how best friends should.
Jhianna pulled into Melesy's mothers driveway and saw that she was having a backyard cookout.
Melesy cussed in her head, honestly not ready to mingle with all these people on this good afternoon. Jhianna could sense the reluctance but she couldn't let Melesy back out now.
"No better time than the present, yeah?" She softly urged Melesy to take a shot in the dark.
Melesy nodded and they got out of the car. Melesy knocked but quickly realized that her mom's habit of not locking the door never left. She felt slightly relieved.
