Lover

The paparazzi were waiting for her as usual. While her manager and bodyguard kept them from getting too close to her, helping her move through the sea of flashes and calls to her name, Yoona greeted them politely until she was finally able to get inside the van. Once safely in the privacy of the vehicle, she grabbed her phone and opened her boyfriend's chat.

I've arrived. I'm going to my apartment.

She waited a few moments but got no answer. She put her phone back away when she noticed that her message wasn't marked as read either. Involuntarily, a sigh escaped her.

"Do you feel exhausted?" her manager asked.

Yoona shook her head. "I just want to get home soon."

Her manager nodded, then looked straight ahead as they headed there.

Yoona and her staff had decided not to rush back to Korea, after all, she didn't have work assigned right away and had a couple of days off, so she could return calmly.

But then, she got worried about her boyfriend: Junho had traveled to New York and during his stay there he caught a cold. Returning to Korea sick while she was already in Japan for her fanmeeting. Worst of all, Junho didn't inform her of his condition until she ended the fanmeeting later that night. At first, Yoona thought it shouldn't be something serious, but the lack of response from him made her uneasy; after all, they were always in constant communication, talking and texting each other every chance they got, so not having a message from him from the night before worried her.

When she arrived at her building, her manager helped her carry her bags and escorted her inside her apartment.

"Here," her manager handed her the last bag. Yoona took it immediately, remembering its contents. "I guess you'll rest today since your plans are for tomorrow. Both of you must be exhausted".

"That's the plan..." she said, not so sure anymore.

Both she and Junho had agreed to spend those days together –given that they could not share the new year's festivities due to their commitments outside the country– and both had spoken to their managers to let them know about it.

Her initial plan was to get to her apartment, have RaeO' brought to her, she'd eat something delicious, and sleep until the next day when she would see Junho in the afternoon, but now she felt anxious and unable to rest the way she wanted.

With the constant worry of her boyfriend's lack of response, Yoona made a different decision.

By the time Junho woke up, it was afternoon. It took some effort to muster up the strength to get out of bed. The medicine he had taken was strong and made him very sleepy, and while it was beneficial to rest when one is sick, it also made him feel disoriented. He reached for his phone, watching the time it struck. It took him a little while to understand the numbers on the screen, and when he did, he was astonished by the number of hours he'd slept -and it shouldn't be surprising, since, besides the cold, he hadn't gotten much rest on his time in New York or his return trip to Korea.

Yoona was the first rational thought he had, and he immediately opened the chat with her conversation.

"Oh. You've arrived." A faint smile showed on him, but it didn't last long as he read the following messages:
