I woke up to the mind numbing screech of my alarm clock. I rolled over and pushed the off button to the clock. When I finally desisted to open my eyes all I saw was an empty bed that belonged to my horrible roommate Macy, clothes covering the floor and an obnoxious amount of sun light that burned my eyes.

I rolled out of my bright blue bed covers that my mom had chosen for me to get changed. As I took the two steps that it takes to get to the closet I saw how amiss my long light brown hair had become while I was sleeping. I met my own grey eyes at the mirror and took a step forward to more clearly see and then wipe the sleep gunk from my eyes.
I neared the closet and took out a black sweat shirt with our school symbol on it and some new jeans and finished changing into them just as I heard my phone buzz from under my bed. When I picked it up I saw a message from my boyfriend Derik asking me if I wanted to go get a late breakfast, as it was a little after 10. I quickly responded with a "see you in 5" and grabbed my shoes.
I arrived at the only place on campus that serves food in a non-cafeteria way, in 4 minutes and got a table on the patio. It was one of the first days in a long time that felt nice to be outside and I planned to spend as much time as I could enjoying it.

As I sat waiting I heard Derik call "Hello Kacy"
"Hey" I responded standing up giving him a hug. His tall body engulfed me for a second before we stepped away and sat down.
"No classes' today right?" he asked me as a tall waitress walked out to us.
"Hello, welcome to Café Nourriture what can I do for you?" she said in an overly peppy voice.
"Large coffee, black, and scrambled eggs with bacon and toast please." Derik told her as he handed the menu to her.
"And you?" she asked me, not looking away from her note pad
"Can I please have the Cinnamon Apple Spice Twist Tea, with apple waffles and bacon." I said as I also handed her the menu. Without another word she took the menus and left us. "To that question before, no classes today and no work today."
"How much longer are you in that that soul sucking internship?" he asked as he moved his chair closer to mine and put his arm around me.
"It's not soul sucking, I like it." I told him as I rolled my eyes and snuggled into his arm. The only reason that Derik didn't like my internship was because it took a lot of time and a lot of work. It was an internship at the local school system. They were trying to find new ways to teach the kids on an individual level and get rid of anything standardized. My job was to help create what steps they could take to get there. This meant going to a lot of fundraisers and grant occasions and meeting with various people. When I had started the internship they had told me it was going to be a lot of work for just an internship, but if I did well it could also mean a better paying job. I loved it all. "Besides, it's better than working at a dead end job like yours."

Derick rolled his eyes as the peppy waitress came with our drinks and set them down on the table.
"So date night tonight?" he asked as he rubbed the bottom of my back.
"Ya, sure where?" I asked as I took a sip of the tea.
"I'll surprise you, something fancy though, and want to come to my place after?" he asked
"Sure, what time?" I asked again
"7"
"Cool." I told him as the waitress came out with our food and we finished the meal in small talk.
