Chapter Two - "I Think You Have An Addiction"

Friday morning, and there is nothing quite like it.
There's only three more school days until Thanksgiving break – well technically, only two and a half – but I can't wait for a long weekend. It's only going to be my dad and I, like most holidays, but I don't mind.
The most important person in my life is all I need to celebrate a holiday based on giving thanks.
I woke up in the morning and shivered under my covers. It's way too cold for me to get out of bed voluntarily, although I am a February baby so the cold is kind of in my blood.
I still don't like it early in the morning.
I reluctantly got out of my bed, walked to the bathroom and brushed my teeth. After I washed my face, I went back to my room and changed into a warm, baggy flannel and a pair of ripped boyfriend jeans.
Most of my clothes are baggy, loose or a size too big, but that's the way I like them. I love being cozy and comfortable, and loose clothes give me that feeling.
I slipped on a pair of socks, then white high top Converse and ran a hand through my waves. With a swipe of mascara and some lip balm, I pulled on a scarf and my winter coat to brace the Michigan chill. I grabbed my bag and went downstairs to see my dad in the kitchen with his coffee and paper, watching the morning news.
"Morning," I smiled, getting a granola bar out of the cabinet.
"Good morning. Be careful out there, it's chilly," he warned me.
"Like it is every other day," I smirked knowingly.
He smiled and shook his head. "Just bundle up and stay warm."
"See ya," I smiled too, waving goodbye before I walked out the door.
I crossed the street to Alex's house and got into his unlocked car. He usually unlocks it in the morning and comes out whenever he's ready, but he unlocks it for me so I can sit in it until he comes outside.
So I scrolled away on Instagram and random apps until he got in the drivers seat a few minutes later. "Hey," he turned around to look at me and smiled.
"Hiya," I smirked.
"You look cozy," he noted, putting his car into reverse and backing out of the driveway.
"I am," I nodded.
He drove to Alyssa's house and we picked her up, after she came running out looking perfect as always. "Hi," she greeted the two of us.
"Hey," Alex kissed her with a smile. "So do you two want to go to a party tonight?"
"Yeah, I guess," I shrugged with a nod, even though no one was looking at me.
"Sure. Where at?" Alyssa asked.
"Tony's."
"Alright, that's fine. I like Tony," I nodded my head.
"Well, at least I get your approval," Alex chuckled and parked in the school lot. The three of us walked into the school quickly, feeling the warmth of the building and sighing. "See you later, Stevie."
"Yup," I nodded with a smile. I watched the two lovebirds walk away from me, hand in hand, and I still smiled. It's so good to see my best friend happy.
He's been through a lot and to see him this happy with a girl is wonderful. I love it, and I love the two of them.
