“there! What do you think?”
She turned excitedly to face Alexander, who was sitting rather awkwardly on her bed. After several minutes of Eliza trying to convince Alexander to enter her bedroom, he finally did.
His reasons for his initial refusal was that he ‘didn't want problems with her father' despite being in her early 20s, and having every right to have a man in her bedroom…with the door open of course.
“perfect sweetie, not even the maids would think to find it there”
She turned back to face her bookshelf, mounted with stacks of books on each shelf.
They hid the redcoats badge behind one of many rows, successfully sheltering it away from view.“Even if they did, they would keep their mouths shut. They care too little to involve themselves in anything, especially family matters”
“hm, I hope you're right.”
“of course I am.” she put her hands on her hip, taking a step back from the bookshelf
“or should I hide it in my closet? My gowns would cover it”
“The bookshelf is fine dear”
“ok, fine.” she sighed, “see, now that's out of the way. I told you I would take care of it!” she smiled, but after a second or two passed without an answer from him, her smile faded ever so slightly. She turned around to face him.
He was looking around her room with curious eyes, fascinated by each piece of furniture and their intricately carved designs and the thick base of colors they were coated with. And surprisingly, no blue.
The furniture of the room such as her vanity, bedside tables and bookshelf were painted a thick coat of white.
The wallpaper of the room itself was pink, brought to life with the print of scattered flowers. The bedsheets, like the furniture, were also white. patterned with the images of flowers as well, almost an exact copy of the wallpapers design.
The mattress he was sitting on was soft to the touch, his weight immediately sunk into it.
She smiled at his spaced out state, and walked over to him.
“colonel, are you listening?”
Upon her approach and call for attention, he shook his head and smiled.
“Sorry, dear. I was just admiring”
“thank you, i figure my room is quite nice”
He nodded. Quite nice was an understatement.
How privileged, he thought.
To have such a beautiful
bedroom, a comfortable bed and a bookshelf full of books which were starting to catch dust from how unused they were. Alex of all people knew how badly people who weren't as privileged desired such things. But at last, his attention was back on her. She walked away from him and headed to her vanity.
He curiously followed behind her.
She sat down on the vanity's chair and picked up a hair brush.
She gently pulled at the end of her hair ribbon, causing her hair to be released from its now messy bun state.
Alex knew she had long healthy hair, but it was still a shock to him seeing her hair reach below her waist, brushing against her hip.
“nosey.” she teased with a smile, looking up at him as his face hovered and watched over her from above like a hawk.
