We walked around the area with a flashlight in my hand, looking for the giraffe. Walking past a flamingo pool, which caught Noodle's attention, she asked, "Why don't they ever fly away?""I don't know. Maybe they've never really thought about it," Willy replied.
'You're kidding."
"That's the thing about flamingoes," I explained to Noodle. "They're flock animals. They need something, just something, or someone, to show them the way."
"How'd you know that?" a surprised Willy asked, a grin lyingvon his face.
"Read it off a comic book someone was about to throw away."
"That's nice."
There was awkward silence between us two- three (A/N: I'M SORRY NOODLE) as they walked through the zoo, finally reaching the very far end.
"Giraffe... giraffe..." Willy muttered to himself, coming to a stop in from of a door.
"I think that's 'Giraffe'."
"Yeah, I think so too," Willy answered, and opening the door to a sprinting tiger that was about to consume his whole before Noodle shut the door close.
"You two really need to learn how to read!"
"Why..?" Willy inquired.
"Because we were literally almost being consumed by a tiger?"
" 'Nearly' is the keyword here. I've nearly got eaten by a lot of things, but the most they ever got was a nibble."
Noodle and I both sighed at the same time. Noodle walked towards the next door, and opened the door, Willy walked in first, then me, and last but not least, Noodle.
Willy grinned at the sight of the magnificent giraffe, and by looking at him, a grin also appeared on my pale face. I've never seen a giraffe before, but who cares? A happy Willy is the important person and thing here. He took off his hat, then greeted, "Good evening, uhm..."
"Abigail," Noodle told him.
The giraffe started to come at us, and all I could do was close my eyes and wait for my tragic death-
"Hold on! I've brought acacia mints," I heard Willy say.
After five seconds, my death still hasn't come, I slowly opened my eyes to see Abigail taking the mints from Willy's hand as Willy gently scratched its chin. "See? Giraffes are crazy about my acacia mints. Love them more than anything else. Maaaaaaybe except for being scratched under their chin."
Oh, Willy, I'm sure the giraffe's are more crazy about your beauty than your acacia mints...
"Wanna give it a go?" Willy asked, his eyes shining in his usual enthusiasm.
"Wh-what- Me?" I stuttered, hoping that Willy doesn't read minds. If he did, he'll think I'm a disgusting person who grow crushes on innocent men like him.
"Why not?" He gave me a genuine smiling, and I swear I was about melt to the ground at that moment.
I slowly walked towards Willy, step by step. hoping I don't make the calm giraffe furious in any sort of way. I raised my hand and Abigail responded positively, licking my face, and I giggled. And so did Willy.
"I think she likes you!" Willy chuckled, and then looked back at Abigail. "Now, Miss Abigail, if my... friend here gives you a good scratch, could you possible spare us a pint of milk or two?"
I didn't want to feel this way, but I was quite disappointed at the word 'friend'. Maybe he only treated me like a friend after all.
After a few seconds of the animal not responding to him, Willy took off his coat, placed his cane vertically on the ground, and sat the coat on it. "Are you feeling a bit hot? You can put your coat on mine if you'd like."
