In just one month, so much has happened. I've never experienced anything as frightening and stressful as that in my life. I'm not sure how I handled it because everyone around me went through trauma as well.

Two weeks following his business trip to Singapore, Newt returned to the Philippines. He texted me saying he was home and wanted to see me. I told him I was busy, but he happened to run into me at work. If the circumstances had been different, I would have approached him normally, but not this time. I was with Calix at the time. "Don't worry, it's your turn tomorrow." I said before leaving the elevator when it reaches the 10th floor. Hindi ko na siya nilingon pa kahit ramdam ko ang titig niya sa akin. Kahit nakatalikod ako, alam na alam kong nasa akin ang mga mata niya dahil halos mangatog ang mga binti ko habang naglalakad ako sa department namin.

What time should I pick you up?

Hindi pa nga ako nakakapagsettle down sa cubicle, nagtext na agad siya. Talagang sineryoso niya nga 'yong sinabi ko! At ang sabi ko, tomorrow. Bakit biglang nagdesisyon siya na ngayon niya ako susunduin?

Clementine:

My work usually ends at 8, but we have a meeting later so I might come home late. You don't have to pick me up.

Newt:

I insist.

Clementine:

What about your work?

Newt:

I can make time.
