I couldn't begin to explain the atmosphere of this place.
Of the sun setting in the distance, with the Dragons still littering the skies in a tangent of colour. It was peaceful, stressful and terrifying all in the same equation.
Kessa had dragged us into a nearby tent a few hours ago, here was where the celebrations began. There was drinking, dancing... Kessa had wandered the tent a million times, grabbing whoever she could and asking questions.
It was clear we weren't supposed to be here, being underage and students. But everyone took one look at Sky Alexia and turned the other way. I wasn't entirely sure how Sky could still be here, stomaching this. I think he knew it would please Kessa, and partially Maddox. Enough to keep them entertained.
"Your a good friend." I find myself saying to Sky, after Kessa had finally let me go from her laser grip. No one had really looked twice at me. I had kept my eyes hooded, my head down. If anyone caught a glimpse of my eyes, there would be a riot. I wasn't ready for that.
"I have to tolerate you all somehow." He mutters, his arms crossed over his chest.
I grin at that. "What's the time now?"
He shrugs. "I'll tell you when we have to go."
"Fine," I sigh, wincing when I catch Kessa pulling Maddox for a dance. "I'm going to run before Kessa grabs me." He snorts, his eyes wary when he realises I was leaving. "I just want some air." I find myself saying, soft enough to know that he was actually looking out for me.
The look hardens and he turns back to the scene ahead of us. "If your not back in twenty minutes—"
"I don't need a chaperone."
"You do here."
I breath a sigh. "Will it be like this forever?" I whisper, shutting out Pyro.
He doesn't respond, and I quickly shuffle out of the tent before he could. I take a breath and relish in the quiet, taking a good few steps away until I felt and heard silence. I glance up at the cloudless sky, peering at the stars and the moon shining back at me. A few Dragons glazed across my view before disappearing.
I couldn't feel the cold, only the comfort of the night sky.
This was where I was supposed to be.
Something wanted me here, in this moment.
I felt my power tug at that alone, not enough for me to release it, but enough to yield myself. The sky was now a strong part of me. My power, my soul, called to that feeling. I knew it.
Something shifts in the corner of my eye. I drop my head and almost jump at the sprawled Dragon on the lawn ahead of me. I hadn't seen him, hadn't even felt him. His colouring mimicked the sky above, or more specifically, the stars. His scales glinted silver, with tints of blue lining his underbelly and the sharp edge of his face. He was large, larger than Pyro but not by much. His eyes were open, watching me. The inner rim of his pupil shieled a midnight blue, while the outside glittered that starlight silver.
I was caught, and he knew it. Yet made no move to approach or even acknowledge me invading his space, his privacy?
I was completely dumbfounded.
Pyro lingers for a moment, trying to decipher what I was doing. Honestly, so was I.
"Hi," I breathe.
