Four months.

Four agonizing months.

The bitter chill of fall had come to creep its way around the once lovelorn Marron Chestnut. She buried herself in her work, pouring her energy towards the art she had lost her focus on in the entire summer ordeal of her faux relationship. She refused to falter in the one area of her life she could possibly control.

And when an ad with Trunks appeared on a billboard, she would turn the other cheek. As the lingering thoughts of his touch seared her like a burning stove. It wasn't that he hurt her, he did anything but– however, she couldn't help but feel that she needed time to process her life without a man circling around her.

Trunks and her had exchanged pleasantries, but she remained steadfast on cutting her lines of communications with nearly everyone. That evening when she was left alone, she came to the resolution that there were only two things that were true. Firstly, that Trunks had lost his mind and that two, she had lost hers.

At the moment of separation she could feel her regret eating at her, as if she should have run back and told him to stay. But she remained still, and quiet. The first month, Marron found it hard to not want to reach Trunks, for anything...it simply felt so natural to do so.

She felt comfortable with him, she had shared so much with him...her hopes, her fears, and then some. But it was her own actions that drove a wedge between the two of them. But in that time, Marron found herself recalling what exactly transpired in that stint, but rather than face her emotions head on–she continued to deny the possibility...chalking it all up to the proximity they shared.

Marron, bundled up in her sweater and jeans pulled into a coffee shop in the Libra district. Finding a familiar brunette waiting for her, her eyes slowly lifting to spot the cold flushed blonde. There was a fear that gripped her, the last time she spoke to Valese...things weren't going well.

Marron steadied her breath, sitting across from the woman. "Hey," Marron's eyes shifted, barely able to meet her gaze.

"Hey," Valese replied, her tone was rather curt, but Marron was the one who had finally reached out to her after all this time to talk to her.

Marron took a deep breath in, as she fastened her resolve. There was no more holding back and no more keeping secrets. If these past few months of solitude have taught her anything it's that she needs to face her feelings head on. "So, I know this is really late..." Marron prepared herself, "but, I needed to come clean."

Valese raised a brow at the blonde, her arms folded across her chest at the declaration. "More clean than that night?" she asked.

"Yeah," Marron said behind gritted teeth as her gaze shifted away from Valese in shame. "and also, to apologize– I know you probably won't care for an apology from me but I do...and I still do care about you."

Valese sighed as she held the warm cup of coffee in the palms of her hands. "Okay," she began, waiting for Marron to spill what she needed to spill. "So what is it?"

Marron drew in a sharp breath, how would she even begin? "It's a long story, so buckle in..." Marron sighed out, her fingers drumming against the wooden coffee table. Should she start from the very start of it all?

"As you already knew, I had been friends with Goten for years...and–well, I thought I was in love with him. When I met you at Trunks' return party—I was absolutely heartbroken...I was actually going to confess to him that evening..." Marron's voice trailed as she found her eyes laying on Vales who's brow twitched indignantly at the sound of that, but she let the blonde carry on with her tale.
