Sunoo's heart sank as he approached his parents, the hope of a night out with friends quickly fading as he braced himself for their inevitable rejection. "Mom, Dad, can I go out for dinner with some friends tonight?" he asked, his voice tinged with uncertainty.
But before he could even finish his sentence, his parents shook their heads, their expressions firm and unyielding. "No, Sunoo, you know the rules," his mother replied, her tone final.
Sunoo's shoulders slumped in defeat as he turned away, the weight of disappointment settling heavily upon him. With a heavy heart, he trudged up the stairs to his room, the sound of his parents' disapproving words echoing in his ears.
Locking the door behind him, Sunoo let out a frustrated sigh, his frustration boiling over as he tossed his bag onto his desk. With a resigned shake of his head, he headed to the bathroom to take a shower, the warm water soothing his frayed nerves.
Returning to his room in his pajamas, Sunoo settled down at his desk, his glasses perched on his nose as he opened his phone. A pang of sadness washed over him as he saw Jake's message, the disappointment of their dashed plans lingering in the air between them.
"They didn't," Sunoo replied with a matching sad emoticon, his heart heavy with regret.
"It's alright sunshine. We can just hang out tomorrow. Go to school early, alright? I miss you already," Jake responded, his words a balm to Sunoo's wounded pride.
But Sunoo couldn't shake the feeling of frustration that gnawed at his insides, the knowledge that his parents would never approve of his friendship with Jake weighing heavily on his mind.
"Don't even expect me to ever go out with you on a dinner, they wouldn't allow me at all, even if I beg or cry, Jake," Sunoo lamented, his voice tinged with bitterness.
Jake sent a sad emoticon in response, but followed it up with a heart emoticon, a silent reassurance that their bond was stronger than any obstacle they might face.
With a small smile, Sunoo closed his phone and turned his attention to his homework, determined to push aside his disappointment and focus on the tasks at hand. But deep down, he couldn't shake the feeling of longing that lingered in his heart, a yearning for the freedom to be with Jake without fear or reservation.
