"Tory! Wait!" Y/N called, running to catch up to Tory. "Are you okay?"

"Yes, I'm fine. It's that goddamn bitch Sam." Tory said frustratedly. "Yes, I know it was stupid of me to say I stole the silverware, and I did steal the vodka but her mom's wallet? She just thinks I did it because I'm not high-class like her."

"I hate the way she acted." Y/N agreed. "She..." Y/N remembered the tense conversation between Sam and Aisha, and pieced it together with what had happened. She had a better understanding of the situation. Sam and Aisha had had a falling out, and Sam had been trying to talk to her, and Tory appeared to have come in between them. Although she hated that Sam had accused Tory, she could somewhat understand what might be going through Sam's head.

"It wasn't your fault. I think she's just jealous of you." Y/N reassured Tory.

Tory's eyes widened in surprise. "Jealous?" she questioned confusedly. "Why would she be jealous of me?"

"She and Aisha had a falling out, and then Aisha started hanging out with you." Y/N replied. "at that point, she was probably just finding reasons to be mad at you."

"Well, makes her even more of a bitch then." Tory remarked. "She can be mad at me all she wants. I really don't care."

That was another thing Y/N liked about Tory. She didn't seem to care what anyone thought of her. Y/N wished she could do that. Her life might be different if she wasn't always worried about what people, especially her dad, thought of her.

"Enough about Sam." Y/N said as they walked down to the pool deck. "I want to get to know you. How come you started karate?"

"Well, I started officially training a few years ago." Tory explained. "But when I was younger, where I grew up, I had to defend myself a lot. I did pretty good on my own, so I figured I might as well have a teacher."

"What'd you have to defend yourself from?" Y/N asked. "If you don't mind talking about it."

Tory sighed. "Just mostly the creeps who lived around us." she answered, but didn't elaborate. Y/N didn't ask her to, not wanting to press her on such a sensitive topic. "What about you?"

"I was just looking for a sport to take up, and my dad only wants me to do yoga, so we signed up for Cobra Kai thinking it was an excersize studio. It wasn't, but I still wanted to do it anyways because..." Y/N paused. She didn't know exactly why she had joined yet. Was it the cool snake logo? Was it just to prove a point to her father? Was it because deep down, part of her loved this?

"I don't know exactly why." she admitted. "I think I just wanted to prove to my dad I could do things on my own."

"I think you could. You seem pretty independent already." Tory remarked.

"You think so?" Y/N said, smiling and blushing at the compliment. It was the best thing she could've been called.

"Yeah," Tory said. "You clearly don't blindly listen to your dad all the time. To be honest, I thought you were one of those stereotypical rich daddy's girls, but thank god you're not."

"I'm glad you don't think I'm anything like that." Y/N replied, grinning.

Tory and Y/N spent some more time together. Tory asked if Y/N had changed her mind about the vodka, but Y/N still politely refused and Tory didn't pressure her further. They found chairs on the pool deck, sat down and laid underneath the sun, talking and giggling.

"You know, that guy you fought isn't that bad looking." Y/N said.

"It's like you read my mind." Tory chuckled. "I could say the same about the other guy, the one with the mohawk. I think he's got a crush."

Y/N remembered Hawk's cocky grin, the way he had looked at her, sizing her up. Y/N shook her head. "Hell no." she said as Tory laughed. "Absolutely not, no way. Did you see how Hawk tried to punch my face in?"

"Probably because he figured you could handle it." Tory replied. "You should've seen the way he was looking at you after."

All Y/N could remember was Hawk grinning down at her like she was a meal, and then the utterly defeated, deflated scowl on his face, likely because getting beaten by a girl with no training had utterly destroyed his ego.

"I don't know." Y/N said. "I don't see it."

"For someone who can easily understand people, you're oblivious sometimes." Tory said teasingly. "I think his last name's Moskowitz. How would that sound? Y/N Moskowitz..."

"Shut up!" Y/N said, socking Tory on the arm playfully. They were going to be great friends.
