Plan Failed?

Every day for the past week Al has been coming and "beating me". Whats really happening is we are planning a way to get me out of here. We don't know if it will actually work, but hey, it's worth a try.

When the day finally comes for me to escape, I start thinking about the negative things that could happen. Like, what if I mess up the plan? Or if they catch me before I get out.

No. No I must not think like that. This will work.

Not to soon or too late Alfred walked through the door just as he had for the past week. With him he brought the blueprints we needed for the plan. He lays the paper down on the ground, untying me so I could join him.

Alfred's bosses never came to check on me, they trusted Alfred to get the job done. Boy were they wrong.

The blue prints he laid out were a detailed map of the ventilation system of the building. In the corner of my room there was a large vent high up the wall that I could fit in. The plan was to go through them until I found and exit which won't be too hard with these blueprints.

As I sat next to Al on the floor he took a sharpie and marked the easiest path to take. We sat there for five minutes, a nice path mapped out. I get up and walk to the vent. Al carried the chair over so I could use it to get into the vent.

As I was climbing on the chair, however, down the hall there was the distinct sound of footsteps getting closer to her room by the second. I look at Al, who looks up at me with a worried expression.

Then I get an idea.

I lean down and whisper the new plan in Alfred's ear. He smiles and agrees to the plan. I run over to the door and stand where if they open it I'll be behind it and they can't see me.

Al stays by the vent and acts like he's watching after me when the door opens. He stops and turns toward the door with a face that convinced even me that he was caught. His bosses stop for a second to take in what they are seeing then with and angry shout they start running to the vent.

Taking my chance I tip toe out the door making sure they don't hear me. And when I'm out I sprint down the hall as fast as I can.

Ok, so maybe not the best plan, but hey it'll have to do last minute. While running, I kept taking different hallways not knowing where I was going, although, the ventilation map helped give me an idea.

I turned a corner and down the hall was a door. The door was painted a fire truck red and said do not enter with a card swipe to grant access. Along the hall there were other doors but they didn't seem as important.

I heard footsteps coming from my left so I ran down the hall and hid in the door way of one of the doors. It was the kind that sunk into the walls a little, so I had my back pressed against the wall facing were I just came from. When the footsteps kept getting louder I realized they were walking down this hallway. Just as I realized that, two men walk past me, thankfully not seeing me.

I hear one of them swipe something. I look out and see them heading into the red door. I quickly run after them making sure they don't hear me, and slip through the door. I take in my surroundings, but I don't really understand it.

All around me are large machines covered in knobs and lights. Some of them are long and look like a CAT scan machine and others look like the weird chemistry sets you see in movies. The ones with the swirly tubes and the beakers that get funny colored liquids dripped into them. Yeh those.

I remember the men that just walked in and I turn to hide under a table to my right. I wait a few minutes for the men to leave, listening to them talk and shuffle around some paper, when finally they leave the room.

I hop up and start looking around. I walk to the table were they spent most of their time. On top of the table was a file that said top secret on it in red letters.

So of course I opened it.

Inside the first thing I see is the "project name", which oddly enough is called "project countryside". That seems suspicious. I turn to the next page to see what else is in the folder. A list of stats is the next thing I see.

After a while of looking at the folder I come to the realization that this is what Alfred was talking about. This is the thing that his bosses have been working on. A product that, with enough work, could kill countries. This is a bad thing. A very bad thing.

I slap the folder closed and head to the door, only to realize you need a card to exit. Well this is just my luck. And to add to that luck a few seconds later a shrill alarm screams in my ears. I clap my hands over my ears to try and mute the sound, to no avail.

This has been a great day.
