Velvet sighed as she fitted into her uniform, looking at her assigned white shirt. She wasn't as thrilled for her new job as she should've been, but better than getting yelled at by her acholic mother. She heard a soft knock on her bedroom door, a rhythm she knew when she was a kid.

"Come in" she said, looking towards the door. Veneer wearily opened the door, smiling nervously. "Mom told me to give you this" He slowly handed you a note. She took it gently from his hands, and looked down at it.

"I have to pay rent?!" She exclaimed, frowning. He flinched, looking at her sadly. She pinched her nose, feeling a sting in her eyes as if she was about to cry. "Hey sis..." Veneer said, his voice barely above a whisper.

She looked up at him, looking into his eyes. "Im...sorry again for betraying you. I just...felt so out of place doing that to a troll and-" his sentence was soon cut off by a tight hug that seemed like it lasted forever. "Its okay bro, I get it now" she said, pulling away. "But understand that I did that to get away from our parents.

He nodded, smiling at her. "I love you sis" He looked like he was about to cry. It's been a while since he got any affection from his sister. "I love you too bro" she said, smiling for the first time in a while. A loud knock interupted the moment. "Let's go!" She heard her dad yell, making her sigh. She opened the door, only to be met with her father.

"Time to go to work Velvet" He said, grabbing her arm and pulling her out of her room. She yelped in surprise, but it didn't hurt. She walked over to the counter, and grabbed the keys. "What are you doing?" Her father asked, crossing his arms. She turned and looked to the sides. "Umm...taking your car to go to work" she said, confused.

"Oh hell no! Your walking!" He said, walking over and grabbing back the keys. "What?! That's like 5 miles away!" She said, but she wasn't that surprised. She was usually treated like this. "Well, it's about time you worked out a bit" He said, commenting on her perfectly fine body.

She looked down at her feet, swallowing hard. "Yeah... okay" she said, walking over to the shoe rack. She put on some platform heels and opened the door. "If you dont get a car, it's gonna be like this for a while" He said. She nodded sadly, closing the door and walking down the front steps. She started her long walk, feeling her feet about to give out. She then heard a car pull up next to her, making her turn her head.

"Hey sweetheart, you need a ride to work?" Your mother asked her. She nodded, looking at her with a sad look. Your mother patted the empty seat next to her, unlocking the car doors. Velvet walked around the car, and got into the passenger seat. "Thank you miss L/N" she softly thanked, looking over at your mom.

Your mother nodded and began to drive. She started looking over at velvet at times but kept quiet for most of the time. "So, how's home life for you? It's been a while since I have seen you" she said, making velvet look over at her. "Its been...eventful" Velvet said quietly.

She sighed, looking back onto the road. "Do they feed you?" The woman asked, concerned. Velvet feel uncomfortably silent. Of course they didn't, but Velvet wasn't gonna tell her that. But, she didn't wanna lie, she lies too much. "You can come over for dinner, I bet Y/N would love to have you over. She's so happy your back in town" she smiled over at Velvet, making Vel return the expression.
