Chapter Five

Nauxrs Pov

It's now the next day, I'm in the office preparing everything for the meeting.

Yesterday I had to go home at 19:00 because I had so much work to do and I couldn't refuse doing it coz this is my job.

I have to keep working hard to pay my dad's hospital bill that keeps on pilling up everyday.

It's just been my dad and I since my mom decided to walk out of our lives and I was never told the reason why she left.

My dad had to step up and be both a mom and dad for me, he helped me through everything and I can't explain how much I love him.

Out of nowhere he started complaining of knee pain so I told him to go see a doctor, after my intense persistence he decided to go and was diagnosed with cancer cells in his knee cap, there is said to be an extra bone growing he is now in the hospital getting treatment but it's quite pricy.

The doctors say his cancer hasn't progressed that much but I guess if he wants to get better his leg would have to be amputated. This is why I have to work hard because he means the world to me I litterally don't know wat will happen to me if he is gone.

I setup the conference room by putting the preview of the presentation at each seat , I was told that only 4 people who'll be attending this meeting including Mr Reed and I.

It's now about to be 11 so I go and  wait for the Smiths at the elevator while having a little chat with Mrs Stan.

Moments later an elderly man in about his 60s walks out of the elevator with a middle-aged man in about his 30s. They almost look like copies, one was younger  while the other was the older.

The younger one was indeed handsome and he was kind of built but not as well as Mr Reed. I walked up to them and stretched my handout to the elderly Mr Smith for a handshake.

"Good morning sir, Im Mr Reeds assistant and I'll be showing you to the conference room". I said Grinning as I shook Mr Smith's hand.

"Good morning young and beautiful". He said with a polite smile.

"This is my son and you can call him Ethan instead of Mr Smith". I smile and look towards Ethan who was already staring at me at this point.

He was smirking at me while I stretched my head out for a handshake but instead he moved it to his lips and kiss the back of my hand while looking into my eyes.

"A pleasure to meet you, I'm Ethan". He said and I couldn't help but blush with the way he was staring at me.

Just before I could lead The Smiths to the conference room Mr Reed came out of his office while Ethan still held my hand , so I pulled away quickly.

His face was void of any emotions but I know I'll be in big trouble later. He walked over to The Smiths and got acquainted with formalities and started walking to the conference room with Mr Smith senior.

The meeting began and I jotted down all the points I thought were important. Ethan was seated opposite me with his father next to him, while Mr Reed was next to me.

Ethan would stare at me a lot and this made my cheeks turn red.

Third person's POV

Ethan and Xavier could feel the tension in the room but Nauxr and Mr Smith couldn't because they were oblivious.

Xavier didn't show it but he didn't like the way Ethan was staring at Nauxr  and the way she blushed made it seem as if she liked it. He doesn't know how but he has to stop this. Ethan couldn't fathom her beauty , he wanted her in every aspect and he would do anything to get her.

Xavier was in denial of the attraction he had towards Nauxr but he surely won't let anything happen between them.

Look at her blushing like a maniac towards him, for him. What what if she likes him too? By the look of things I can clearly see that he likes her.

This thought made him jealous even though he couldn't admit it to himself. When the meeting came to an end Mr Reed escorted Mr Smith out while having a few discussions and Ethan remain behind to have a private moment with Nauxr.

" I didn't quite get your name miss... and please don't be formal". Ethan said with a charming smile.

He stood opposite her on the other side of the huge desk , with his hands in his pockets.

"It's Nauxr. " she said with a shy smile."

"I would like to get to know you more Nauxr, so I would like to take you out to dinner tonight at a really nice and fancy restaurant. Would you like that?" He asked with hope in his voice.

"I'm sorry, I'm not really sure that will be professional, my boss won't allow that."
She said feeling really terrible.

"Damn, this is the first time a beautiful lady has turned me down". His ego was alittle bruised he couldn't lie.

"But that's okay. This won't be my last time asking, just so you know I don't give up that easily on what I want". He said walking towards her.

He leaned in and gave her a peck on the cheek.

"It was a pleasure meeting you Nauxr".

"Sure, you too Ethan".

He walked out of the conference room and left Nauxr there alone.She was flattered by him but she wasn't really into him and she couldn't believe someone as handsome as him wanted her.

Moments later she left the conference room and entered their joint office with Mr Reed, he was already seated at his desk.

The moment she entered she became nervous, she carefully walk towards her office without looking a him.

Before she could reach her office she heard a loud boom of his voice it was so alluring and always made her heart beat faster.

"May you come here Miss Thompson I'd like to have a word with you." He said. She turned back around and walk towards his desk and took a seat in front of him.

" Yes sir". she said.
