Over the past few weeks my only priority was finding a way to defeat this woman.
My whole thoughts were focused on her, every minute she was on my mind. She really drives me crazy.
I walk down the hallway in the basement of my own club, rushing past multiple blurred out figures of people "Where the hell were you, if been looking for you the past 20 minutes, Zack." I declare and stand approaching in front of him, "leave me alone Nik, I didn't not respond to you because I was in need of your company" he mourns with a touch of sarcasm and turns around in his own bed while he fixes his blanket "I'm tired Nik." He adds and obviously expects me to leave.
But as stubborn as I am I stay and just keep on annoy him till he gives in. "Zack, we found something. We know her name, finally." "wow" he answers surprisingly careless, as if he wouldn't give a fuck "Zack stop being so ruthless and come to the discussion table." I then command him as my patience slowly begins to fade, he seems to notice that it starts to get serious, the tone of my voice is much deeper and much more harmful. Zack then gets up as response and puts some pants on to hide his nude ass, finally he even puts on a tank top to cover up his well trained body stature.I walk down and up in front of the blackboard as I keep on explaining the situation, while the whole process my view often lands on Zack who's gaze looks not pretty fascinated by all what we have found out already.
My guts keep on telling that he knows something about the till a few hours ago nameless woman, but my mind tries to play it off.
"Her name is Ginevra and she is one of the original witches - meaning she is extremely strong." I mention to the crowd and wait for any reaction from especially Zack, but nothing. Not even an eye rolling or annoyed groan, just simply nothing.
How much I hate it when people don't acknowledge the work I've done, oh but I could never hate him, I could never have the guts to even express anything bad against my eldest and dearest friend.
He's always been there for me - whenever I needed him.
"Okay whatever guys, we got to find a way to kill her. Ginevra needs to be stopped, all she does is bad." I finally add to my explanation and walk down from the pedestal to where all my people are sitting on wooden chairs.A few minutes ago I got a text message from my brother, Kol, saying that he found a way to kill her. It'd actually be pretty simple he said.
Perhaps to him all you need is a silver knife that's drained in the deadly toxic herb Belladonna.
It can't be that hard to find this - can it?
I ask myself as I walk down the long and cold hallway, I don't even realize that Zack is standing in the middle of the ways so I just walk past him till I get disturbed by his surprisingly shy sounding voice "Did you find a way yet..? Like to kill Ginevra?" I nod as a sort of agreement "yeah we just need a silver knife that's drained in Belladonna, isn't that amazing? We finally get to defeat her after all she has done to us and our species's" as responds Zack smiles awkwardly at me and nods "Yeah! ... yeah, right" the way he is acting makes him so suspicious and I'm starting to get concerned about him, what if he hides something from me?
Whatever I guess.. I can't force him to open up. All I can do is to go on this one big hunt with him right now - so I do.
I pick up the silver knife from the weapons room, the Belladonna powder from the garden and wait in the car for my friend. Finally the door of the car opens and Zack lets himself sink into the passenger seat, next to me, "I've been waiting for you,
you should at least try to be punctual." I tell him with a kind of disbelief in my voice. He's quiet, he seems to not even put effort in answering me.
I just start the motor of the car and drive
off - I can't do this midlife crisis shit right now. After a middle-long car ride we finally arrive again, there we are - at the same old house as weeks ago.
I'm not sure if I feel comfortable around here but I for sure can say that I love the imagination of revenge for all that innocent supernatural beings.
Both of us, Zack heading behind me walk up to the porch and finally he knocks at the front door. At first no one seems to open but after knocking a second time the same woman, in the same coat as last time opens the door for us "Oh Niklaus, bambino, how do I deserve to enjoy your company?" She asks meaningful and awaits a response from me, "well, Ginevra, we are here to kill you." She smiles at me and then says "You are trying to make me nervous by telling my name but you don't even know my full name, don't you?" I can feel the mock and I just stay quiet "my full name is Ginevra Bonetti." Bonetti? Why does this name feel so familiar? I can't remember where I heard it before but I know that someone I'm familiar with must have the same surname..
However, my pretty intense thoughts get interrupted by a rather young boy-ish voice "Mommy, are this people here to hurt us..?" The figure of a little boy in Pyjamas with a worn down teddy in his left hand asks the woman, she just turns around shocked and finally knees down so that they both are on the same hight "Oh no don't you worry about it Adriano" I can hear her strong Italian accent for the first time, at least I notice it for the first time.
The little boy takes some more steps towards us, approaching he looks at the two of us but soon his worried gaze changes to overwhelmed "B-brother??" He asks while looking at Zack, he seems just as overwhelmed as Adriano "Iano.." Zack says as he gets on his knees "please go back to sleep.." understandingly the boy nods and accepts his faith of being left out and ignored.
"What the hell is going on here?! Would you mind explaining me why this little boy just called you his brother Zack?" I yell at Zack but all he does is get up from the ground and build himself up again, I get an answer but not form the young Italian man in front of me "Well that must be because they are siblings. Adriano is one of his many siblings. The surprisingly loyal Zack as he calls himself nowadays that fights other supernatural beings or even humans with you since hundreds of years is actually my son." pure disbelief is written all over my face as I stare at red haired woman that is still standing in the door frame, "Wait - no. You can't be his mother. I don't believe you." I then say with a shivering voice and take a step back to cool myself down,
"Well too bad, we are related.
He's born in the year 1223 and died in my own arms 1251 with vampire blood of one of the originals in his system. That night I lost my fist and dearest son."
I'm still completely desperate and I'm almost not even able to say anything "But how are you still alive then..?!"
It's pretty quiet for a while and Ginevra's gaze changes from powerful to just blank. No expression, no gesture and absolutely no word comes out of her mouth. It's like this for maybe around 2 minutes till Zack, who is still standing right beside me finally over comes himself and speaks up "Well my Mother over there couldn't save me, she couldn't save her back then so sweet and adorable angel from the devil-ish creatures out there so she decided to spell one of her little magic tricks to make her immortal, the only problem was that she was forced to trade a human life for the immortality so the only thing that came to her mind was to sacrifice my younger sisters live." Zack stops in track and just stands there, when I look at him I can see how his eyes begin to get watery and his body seems to shake a bit.
I can tell that he feels quiet discomfort and that he hates this whole situation but knowing that the witch in front of me is actually from the year 1200 makes it even harder for me to find a solution for this all.
Over all these years she had more than enough time to improve all her magic and human abilities of fighting and hiding.
"Oh Niklaus, bambino, I hope our little family reunion didn't bother or scare you of" the witch says sarcastic and kind of mocking, I just roll my eyes and pretend like it absolutely did not just disturb me "Your last well known wish will be that you're dead when I'm done with you." She smirks at me after my reply and just nods "Oh don't promise me something you can't keep, my love."
I hate this woman so much.
She makes me want to break all rules of nature and just rip of her head, smacking her headless body into the wooden table over there in the living room and finally burn this goddamn house down with her corpse inside.
Argh I hate her - oh and how I hate her.
"Niklaus Stop." Zack says as he holds onto my kept hand that is formed as a fist, somehow the touch of his warm big hands actually manage to calm me down. My hand rests and turns back to normal, Zack then says "We should go now." He sounds so mean but calm at the same time, I don't know why he is acting like that and is protecting her but something deep down gives me such a familiar feeling to this whole situation.
I have absolutely no clue what's right to do - if I should listen to Zack or if I should just keep the mission going but I know that Elijah told me to bring her back alive to get the chance of finding more out about her.
I'm forced to give in so I can break the reunion between my dearest friend and his mother up.
"Fine, let's leave" I turn around and mourn under my breath "for now."
